Title: Sun Glare effect suggestion
Post by: whels on August 10, 2004, 01:38:03 PM
HT,

as it is right now sun glare during a fight really only hurts the enemy  behind u,as u are lookin back at them and not the sun.

but there also should be  a side affect to the other pilot. say u fly into the sun so that he has glare and cant see u as well.  i propose, when u fly into the sun for  a period of time. if u dont look off to a side away from directly @ sun, u should get the sun spots we get in RL, or some kinda form of blackout to simulate
not being able to see after looking at sun.

example u pull up to rope someone, u fly up into the sun to cut chasers view. well if u keep looking forward at sun, then switch views to back to check enemy, u should not be able to
see well for a few seconds as your eyes readjust to no sun.

as it is right now we can fly directly @ sun with no ill affects.

Actually, Sunglasses weren't *mass produced* until the late 1950's.

Sunglasses have been around since the Renaissance.

god i hate the glare as it is....dont want stupid effects with it. other things need to come first for realism before something like this can be addressed.

Every time I've ever looked at the sun, I just keep staring at it with my eyes wide open.

Do you guys do that? Or does it hurt and then you either look away or put on cheap sunglasses?

For sure when you really fly, staring at the sun is a common thing. Nobody slumps down below the glareshield or shifts so that a cockpit frame blocks a direct view of the sun. No sir! Full radiation is the only way to go!

Agree with Toad.  The best part of the game is staring at the sun, ideally for hours and hours.

Howcome no-one wonders why the fairly large sun disappears completely if its center gets screened by a pinhead?? .... or at least a narrow cockpit frame :)

Because it should.  I can block the sun with my pinkie at arms length, why wouldn't a frame be able to?
