Not wanting to interfere with HTs post asking opinions on his "wait" idea thread I brought it to a new thread.
It seems that anytime something is considered it eventualy ends up in a perk point discussion.
My question is do you really pay that much attention to perk points?
Maybe I`m a lot different than most on my views, but I could give a rat`s patunia on what or how many perks something is awarded to me for kiling or doing something to someone , somehwhere or whatever.
I`m just curious to how many this is a real factor for.

I very rarely looks at the perks I earn after landing. Last I looked, I was approaching 18,000 fighter perks.
You can probably hazard a guess as to what I think of perks and the need to use them.
-
Perks mean nothing to me , just to fly and enjoy the game is all i want
-
Perks as they are now are useless to me also. I fly the P-51D, which doesn't collect jack for perks anyway.
If perks were made to mean something, or became usefull in some way, then maybe the majority of people would care.
Perk planes alone are not worth the added target fixation factor that you get while using them. Suggestions have been made numerous times about using perks to "buy" upgrades to your Aircraft or loadout that aren't normally available to every aircraft...
Exmples of special bomb types, or "above spec" engine horsepower or special tracer configurations.. stuff that not everyone else has, but they won't nesscarily know if you have it either.

Perks don't mean much after a point, last time I looked I had 17,000 perk points. I don't often fly a perk plane just because I don't see much reason to. I can't stand the 262, the only perk plane I ever fly is the Tempest. But, I am probably a minority, I know many, just in my squadron, keep their perk account at zero for the most part, 'cashing' them in on a 262 or whatever as soon as they have accumulated enough points.
I think for most people they represent an 'option' to be uber and as such have some value, whether that value is potential or actualized really doesn't matter. Just knowing that that 10 kill run in a P40B earned you enough perks to fly a jet until you die in it is incentive enough for many.

Zazen,
With some of the things that I have seen you say on these boards, I thought that I would find it very difficult to agree with what you had to say. BUT...... on this matter, I have to say, that I TOTALLY agree with what you have stated on this post.

make them pay for fuel at bases below 125+ and perks will be used
like 1 gallon of fuel costs you 0.005 perk
so 100 gallons of fuel means 0.50 perk points
its not much 1 kill in a hurrc should give you perks for plenty of fuel
-
and if you wanted to go farther you could make it so fuel factorys control fuel price
-
well heck....if we gonna charge them for the fuel, lets also charge them for the ammo, and we cannot forget about any repairs that are needed....LOL
I think that this could a become a never ending charge.

why should they add that for ammo just fuel you dolt

Zero interest in perks. I'm not much into riding kerosene torches and I get "ganged" enough without hanging out the "free perks here" sign :D

perk points are pretty useless, and most anyone who spends any amount of time playing has more than they'll ever use.
Some people are happy with this.
Others would like to see perk points mean something.
-
Don't spend them much , have more that I could ever use , I'm saving them for the day they model the F8-F Bearcat ;)
ve-hickle and buff perkies however - I have bugger all of them , how do you get them again ?
-
I would rather see "Fighter Points Earned" or "Attack Points Earned" than perkies earned displayed..
I really like the perk system too...It does balance things somewhat.
-
I'll pay for ammo and fuel, if I can trade my useless bomber perks to fighter perks.
:)
