If you add those IPs to your restricted zones in Norton Internet Security or Zone Alarm, they can never connect to your computer and view listings or download things.

but even if you didnt add those IPs could they really search your computer if you do not elect other folders to be searchable in.....Kaza lets say.

If they could wouldnt that be hacking/invasion of privacy.

If I had the Colonel's secret recipy, is KFC aloud to wiretap my phone to see if I'm giving it to my mother for my next visit home?

yeah .. cal me a intardnet moron, but what does all that you posted mean first?

second, i DL some pr0n from kazaa lite and thats all. i have about 2000 MP3's 95% all ripped from my own CD's for use on my creative nomad.

thats not illegal, and i dont share a single one. can they look through my PC, and look for any files, then go after me? i doubt it legally, and i say a huge to the RIAA anyway LOL

From what I understand.....The RIAA "browses" a hosts (you) files....records their IP addres and what files they have.

from my understanding on Kaza you elect what files you want to share.....

anyhow, I dont think i have more than 10 Mp3s on my computer but if they were to find my "hidden" stuff that would be considered an invasion of privacy.

Only criminals have anything to fear. If you've done nothing wrong, are a law abiding, God fearing anti-homo marrying citizen theny you should be complacent and gleeful that you're helping the government stamp out copyright infringement and terrorism.

What is your source for these IP's?

I'm no criminal, but I don't think they have the right to look into my machine.

Well shame to the inventors, why not just go after them and their companys. Shuting down the programs = no more file sharing. Maybe the they just want to make the dough busting every individual person they can find. :p

Y'all know, there are plenty of things that are legal on P2P.  Most of the porn is legal because it's put out as promotional material, for example.

The full length movies and most of the MP3s are a different story, of course.  I'm just posting this because some of the people above seem to think that P2P is a completely illegal device.

If they didn't charge 16-20 dollars for a 2 dollar CD that only had one or two songs I like on it, I wouldn't pirate it. I do and I don't care. I keep my machine pretty secure, and burn the mp3's to CD's then delete em.

Afaik if you move the mp3s from your shared folder to any other unshared folder, they wont touch you.

I read a quote a while back from the RIAA saying exactly that.  They were more or less saying 'we dont care if you do it, just dont make it available to others'.

Also afair from the same article, they would only prosecute if you had more than 1000.  It was around the time the young girl was getting prosecuted.  There was some hysteria over here cos it was reported that the girl (was she about 5-7?) only had nursery rhymes.  It came out later tho that she had a couple of thousand mp3s.

Does anyone remember this?  It was probably about 6-9 months ago iirc.

See!!!

Never ever let your children download hip/hop, pop, rock music from P2P. Teach them how to save their allowance so they can buy CDs. Also watchout for those CDs that has "Parental Advisory: explicit content" sticker.

Is'nt it ONLY legal if you download files from a P2P network that you pay for? Anything you download such as MP3's and videos must bepayed for? Could'nt it all be classified as "promotional material"?

If they wouldn't charge $25,000 for a car I only want to drive for a few hours I wouldn't have to steal them for a joyride.

Music Piracy actually fights  terrorism.  When you don't buy a CD, you don't  give money to the record companies, which in turn don't give money to the artists.  That way the artists have less money to buy drugs with.  As we all have been told ad nauseum, drug money funds terrorists.
Download with pride, you're making the world a safer place.

oh, and for music sharing, Soulseek gets my vote hands down.
