Hi my name is Gary and I heard about this game from my friend Josh. I want to play but my joystick is broken. I will get a new 1 tommorow and im going to sign up.
-
Welcome.
If you have questions, most of us will be helpful. Just beware of answers like "Two weeks" and "Alt-F4".
-
Welcome to the game!
It would be a big benefit to you to read the manual and be able to take-off, land, and shoot down the target drones in offline mode before you venture online.
Also don't be afraid to ask for help from a trainer!
-
Welcome, I hope you decide to stay with AH.
-
It took me a while to figure out the planes will take off on their own.
-
You won't need a joy stick for 2 or 3 months :)
Kidding - welcome and good luck!
-
Welcome aboard Gary :)
You are about to start your very first serious addiction, and the best part is.....The First Hit Is FREE!!
Read the help files and pop into the Training Arena when you are ready to fly.
AH has some very good Trainers, also, most of the other riff raff are willing to help out a new guy get his "wings".
Cheers,
RTR

Ima always the last to know this stuff!!!
oh yeah welcome:cool:

Right, your friend "Josh" also known as "Ace" :D
Welcome aboard :)
-
Best bet is to print the help files. If you don't want to print that much at least print the keyboard commands...and welcome to AH.

The recommendations to practice offline and read the instructions are VERY important. The reason they are important is so that you do not waste as much of your "free two weeks" by trying to figure all of that out. You want to be able to takeoff, land, maneuver, and shoot BEFORE you start the timer in my opinion.
The only other bit of advice I have for someone just trying out the world of massive multiplayer online flight sims is this: Plan on dying, A LOT, for quite some time, and don't let it get you down. You have to realize that many in this game have logged as much as 100,000 hours in the virtual cockpit.
When I first discovered this addict...errr...hobby I had played and beaten every boxed flight simulator ever made. I thought I was the greatest fighter ace of all time. I actually came into Warbirds beta planning on showing all these guys how to "really" fly. I think the first week my kill to death ratio was like 0.01 to 1 :(
I have seen a lot of folks get dejected with the steep learning curve and quit early into their career. I hope that doesn't happen to you Gary. Welcome aboard!

licking my lips:cool:
no seriuosly welcome and dont be afraid to ask question but take care not to have too much of a conversation on range channel, this is needed for six calls and aproaching enemy warnings. use your text to type questions, more than enough people will help ya out:aok

I used stall limeter for 2 years. Then someone enlightened me on turning it off. Took about 2 weeks to get use to. After a year now Ive pretty much mastered it.

Might have, never met him. Since he's dead now it's kind of a moot question. Always have liked his music though. His brother is pretty good too. Why do you ask?
