How can I resize a picture, to use it as an avatar, and not totally screw up the image?

I used MS Paint.

Copy and paste the image into Paint then you can size it down to 64x64.

73, i have one that i could use resized.  could ya do it for me as well?  just pop me an email at jjgeasey@yahoo.com then ill send it back to ya.  thanks in advance.  it is a animated one if that matters.

keep in mind that if you're pic is a .gif you have to transform it from indexed colour to RGB in order to resize. If you don't the result will look crappy. photoshop can do it - don't know about other programs.
