Bring 'em all home. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=3&u=/nm/20040814/ts_nm/arms_usa_military_dc)

Alright, getting back on the right track.
-
Bush is just bringing the army home so he can overthrow the election this november should he loose to Kerry.. We are doomed!
-
that kinda sucks actually. 2/3 of those will be coming from Germany. This is one of the best places to get stationed at in the US military!
Either way good plan
-
Long overdue...

I thought this was going to be a thread about a buss load of lawyers crashing into a river. :D

I remember you mentioning tha you would like to see all troops deployed overseas return to the US. For what reason?
So many reasons I have lost count. Main ones:
1. Troops are for defending the US. (per the Constitution). Not defending everybody else. Let the rest of the world pay for their own defense.
2. Too expensive. Taxes are strangling our standard of living and ability to compete in a global economy.
3. Our political leadership (either party, they are the same under the wrestling masks) is corrupt and no longer represents the people. Downsizing and withdrawing our military will reduce the number of people (friendly and enemy) who die needlessly because of the *******s in DC.

the future for america is Floating seabases, able to launch and sustain amphibious operations, could revolutionize the way in which expeditionary forces conduct a land campaign.

funked you might think that its a good thing to do but its actually not a smart move. The US needs to have troops deployed overseas. Its part of diplomacy, foreign policy (the good kind), and proactive in thinking. I dont mean moving troops from europe and asia to Iraq. If thats needed then ok. I remember you mentioning tha you would like to see all troops deployed overseas return to the US. For what reason?
actually we really dont NEED our military overseas.
We have the ability to project power from great distances at a moments notice.
There is no enemy to defend Europe against so no need for 40,000+ troops there.
Threats change....so does the prepositioning.

really though help against what? Who?
The US spends billions of dollars on deployed troops to Europe for what?
Mark my words. You are going to hear some serions beaching from Germany over this. They stand to loose a TON of money and jobs.

Moving troops out of europe to send to Iraq is also a political statement. It says to NATO, you are not needed. Am I wrong? Just my opinion.
So you say that Bush and his cabinet finds NATO to be obsolete?
-
After all the b1tching they did when EU announced its intentions to build a EU Army where US wouldn't have any word?

I think you are right, but there is no future for this kind of "free-market economy".
The stationed troops here dont work like a company, they are just here sitting around, nothing is produced.
You say they will lose TON's of money, hey you are talking bout
your US Taxes!
Yes some germans who depend on this money will lose,
but we here need anyway new jobs, maybe a good time now.
Its a wise move and i think it will only stronger your millitary.

I was referring mostly to the civilians employed by the base and the money that the troops/familys actually put into the economy. Host countries of many nations make ALOT of money off of military bases.
