Title: Manually changing IRQ assignments in W2k?

I've been told that my video card sharing an irq (irq 16) with my 1394 host controller is bad, but how do I change it manually?  There doesn't look like I can do it any way in my bios (A8V Asus), and I tried the whole "change to standard PC" update driver thing in my XP installation, and it pretty much crashed the system out, hence the try at ol' win2k.

Any help on how to do this (clear) would be very appreciated, I can't find anything usefull on google.

If the 1394 interface is built into the motherbaord, then there is not anything you can do about it, as it means the motherboard has the interface hardwired to use the same IRQ as the video card.

... and even if they use the same IRQ, it doesn't imperativly mean, that you have an IRQ conflict. WinXP is normally able to use IRQ-sharing in newer systems without causing problems.

Well if the 1394 is built in and you dont use it, you can always disable it in your bios. Windows wont see it anymore, and the IRQ wont be shared. If you really need to use firewire, then I would suggest buying an ad-on card and install it in one of your bottom PCI slots.

That is true lucull, but some devices do not share well.  Sound cards are the biggest problem.  Sharing imposes overheads at interrupt time and you do not want to stay at interrupt time very long for any device.
