I have a un used stick of pc133 ram. I was wondering If that would work for my. amd athlon xp 2000+ fsb is 266. 1.7ghz.

No, it won't work. PC133 is SDRAM, your computer is using DDR.
-
of course it will work, you just gotta soak your computer in water for a couple of hours first, then gently knock the RAM in with a claw hammer.
Loud cracks are not a worry, thats just normal.
-
Plus it needs to be pluged in while it's soaking.
Just kidding! :D

Depends on you motherboard, check your documentation. There are someboards that use pc133, but most AMD boards do not.

Not on my EPOX EP-8RDA MoBo.
I have the same deal. An AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and I am using 2 sticks of 512MB 266Mhz DDR PC2100 DIMM CL2.5 by Kingston. It seems to me they were pretty cheap.

Hyrax did you have to soak it in water first.. :-)
And Furball: a claw hammer is to small, I use a 3 pound sledge.

You can't use PC133 in any MB designed for athlon or P4. It's operating at a much lower bus speed (1/2 or worse). Even if you bought an adapter to make it fit...your hosing your system. However you could probably sell it for enough to buy what you need...you ever price that old crap now. plenty of SOB's stuck with an old system (especially business systems) that need to be upgraded or simply have bad memory...I got a $/meg from a guy at fry's for a pair of 256 sticks (well almost). He literally HAD to have em and it trashed the system I had in (didnt really need it of course)...right place right time CA-CHING
