Title: ATI RADION 9600 vs 9800
Post by: Maniac on August 18, 2004, 09:04:26 AM
Hey all!

I got the ATI RADION 9600 PRO 256MB and i am thinking about selling it and getting the 9800 instead!

Anyone have experiance with these two cards? is this a unwise thing to do?

Anyone know aprox how much more push i will get with this card?

go for the 9800pro. there is a major gain in performence and its not that more expensive from the no pro.

The 9800Pro is a much faster card than the 9600Pro.  It is also a power hungry card.  Make sure you have enough power supply.

I would not mess with a non-Pro.

Cool.

Thx guys.

Should i wait for the PCI Express stuff to hit the market before i buy the card? (pricedrop perhaps?) or is that like a long way off?

You won't get a 9800 pro on PCI express.

If it's just a card upgrade go for the 9800 Pro. It's an excellent card right now.

Will 350watts work?

In case it matters I've got 2 hard drives, a DVD drive and a DVD/CDRW drive
