Title: Noses in the wind since 1997
Post by: daddog on August 18, 2004, 10:53:03 PM
There is a squad that has been around a long time, since 1997. It is full of guys who don’t take life too serious and are out to have a good time. They don’t fly one aircraft, but every pilot has their own favorite ride. They don’t do anything great, but they do a lot of things well. Some fly in the Main Arena, others fly in the events. Friday night Squad Operations is their squad night.

If you are an excellent stick, fly only one type of aircraft, and keep a close track of your score and get really worked up when things don’t go your way try another squad. If that does not describe you then give us a peek. :)

what is this main arena thing you speak of?

And what are you talking about that we don't do anything great!  I shoot down squaddies better than anyone else!  I can do it with a single bullet.  Plus, I am really great at getting myself into 1 v many situations and dying better than anyone else!

Very Low Pressure Squad that has a lot of fun and when in trouble in the air and if possible they will always come to your help.  A squad that looks out after its members. I read thier recruitment ad 2 1/2 yrs ago and was only playing Air Sims since since Nov 2001, they took me in and i was lucky to even live 1 flight let alone land a plane. So they are a good group to fly for. And yes I been awarded the Nippin Nifty award twice ..lol (named after Nifty for shooting down squadies) See, if you do things well you get a award named after you, they even have a guy that steals kills in it.. cant tell you who it is or i wont be able to steal yours:lol (ps. only done in fun)

OWIE... I remember those shots....  With Nifty, flying became one of those times where your SA was REALLY critical, and it was safer being tail end charlie. :D

Look for me in September guys.  I hope

Dunno what you can say about this bunch that hasn't all been said.  So in that vein I'll post a few of the other things that have been said over the years.

(Daddog)
"What squad members have you met?"
(Vaderr)
I have met Teeerex, Daddog, Harrpa, Woodog and Renrael. Not many compared to the ones that I call and consider brother!!!

(Vaderr)
The memories and friendships that I have regarding this unit will last a liftime. Our leader is a special person that is the glue and fabric that holds this whole thing together and proud to be associate with him and all the rest of the class act known in cyber space as the 332nd Flying Mongrels.

(Ozark)
3 years ago today A tall bearded man walked though the woods and found the mongrel campsite.
LOL! I never forget the day that Dhog, Ghosth and I met Daddog.
Oshkosh 2000

(Wklink)

I have considered it one of my luckiest moves joining the 332nd.  These guys have been like family to me in many ways.  We are always supporting each other, despite the ups and downs of the genre and of our own lives.  This is more than just a bunch of guys flying little computer airplanes around, it is a way of meeting new friends and developing friendships that would never have happened otherwise.

(Docdog)

The lot of you have continued to build and make something out of nothing, into something with longevity and a great reputation.  I appreciate the commitment that you have had to one another and the mutual respect and integrity that you guys show for each other.  I feel honored to fly with you when I can and appreciate that I may be the worst stick among you but always feel welcomed.

Last of course, myself.
(Ghosth)

Its a legend now about the night Teee screamed. I think that was the night several of us went from being friends, to being brothers. I happen to believe that I was being, ermmm "guided" to someplace I needed to take them.

That was only one of many pivitol moments in the history of the 332nd Flying Mongrels.  The kind of place where strangers become friends, and friends become brothers.

The adventure continues..............

I've been flying with these guys for almost 3 years (with a 6 month break from the game).  I enjoy the clean banter and good fun the squad offers.  Daddog and Ghosth run a clean ship.  We don't stress skill or formation, but we do stress good attitudes and friendship.

If you're looking for a squad, please check us out at 332nd.org.

Ditto, and WOOF! :aok

Best time I ever had in AH is with this mixed bag of mongrels.  Good to see y'all still here too.  Specially now I got my PC back and running right.

Now if only this silly sandbox fight would go away, I could get time to get back into the fight proper like...  From the air...  With a fan in front, and you mutts leading the way....  Specially Nifty, wayyy out front, :D

Oh yeah....  What's this thread doing near the bottom of page 1?

Man this old hack is like a practise ball.

Constantly being "punted" up & over the bars.

Seriously, we are always on the lookout for people who are especially interested in the Squad ops events fri nights.

There is a fairly steady bunch that fly main most evenings.  (watch out for maddog)

The 332nd has also raised some "puppies" in the past. So if your mature for your age, & have the time & commitment to give. Give us a look see.

As always keep it clean, light and enjoyable. Everyings fun till someone loses an eye!

:)
ohh yeah

PUNTAGE~!

These are a really good bunch of guys.  Enjoyment is their prime objective with no pressure regarding score or ability.  However, after having typed that, there are a few really good sticks in the squadron who are more than willing to assist anyone to better his skills.  Ghosth is especially generous in this area.

If you, like most others, are just looking for a good time when you log online after working many hours and taking care of family and home or have just had a long day in general, then this is the squadron for you.

I started with this group near tour #22 or 23, been there ever since. I could not fly and hit anything for atleast the first ten squad ops, and they still kept me..lol Always falling behind and always trying to catch up..lol and they still kept me. left the game a few times due to personal reasons.

Came back in game and was invited back into the squad right away. once a mongrel always a mongrel,  good clean non pressure fun.

I'm a terrible pilot, cannon fodder actually.

I'd like to join a squad but due to family obligations cannot commit to a squad night or even more than a couple of hours per session.

As much as I'd like to be in it like I was when I was CO of a buff squad in Air Warrior, I can't.

What country does the squad fly?  I'd like to check out and see how the members are before I commit.

Scotty

Normally our main squad night is Fri night in the Squad Ops events.

We do fly for knights in the main, tend to not be real organized in there.
But if you would like to hook up tune to 132 and say hi.

If you'd like to fly with us for a frame or 2 in FSO that can also be arranged.

If your looking for help learning AH I'm an Aces High Trainer.
If you see me online just yell, or just shoot me a email

ghosth@hitechcreations.com
or
ghosth@mcleodusa.net

We'll see what we can do to bring you up to speed.

With any squad what you get out of it depends a lot on what you put into it.
And what your expectations are.

The 332nd Flying Mongrels has one of the best reputations in all of Aces High. Especially where events are concerned.  We have had several members at any given time active in the CM groups.  And we do take our special events seriously. But be aware that is our main focus. We are not as concerned about the main. Where other squadrons that is their only focus.

Thats not to say we don't have pilots who fly the main daily.

Maddog, tank, outlaw, heavyh, TCE, and myself are often to be found online.

If you're looking for a squad of all around good guys who will help you become a better pilot, who will be there for you online or off, who always get your back, this is the squad for you.  We don't care if you're a great stick or not because, simply by joining us, you will have a group of guys who really know how to move a plane around the sky (not me.. yet) and genuinely care about each other the mongrels are the squad for you.

Discipline, duty, honor, and courage.. mean something to this squad.  That's why I joined :)

well, only strikes against me are I don't keep close track of my score, and I'm a former Mongrel known as Odee.

I think any of the old squad remembers my flight skills.

If not the Mongrels, at least point me to a good squad that flies tactical fighter style.

332 Mongrels, what can I say?

Was kind of a lost ball in the tall weeds when the dogs offered me an opportunity to tag along on a couple of squad nights - some of these evenings have been the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on! I know I've had to have been the most dweebish noob on occasion - never anything but the most constructive criticism from all my squaddies (except maybe my singing - don't understand why they don't applaud and throw money - they jeer and throw rocks).

The last time out in TBM's, I was driving, Olds was gunning - I started singing - daddog actually suggested Olds take out his 45 and shoot me! Golf of a way to treat a squaddie!

BTW, golf is the only 4 letter word the squad will let me use! LOL.

<> dogs and my sincerest regards,

Optiker

FOCLMGBO!  No problems Daddog.

Zip n his CO (the Wife) and I had a coffee Sunday, going over our tales of dairng airmanship.  Brought back a lot of memories from the old days when I was there. And the FSO...!  Man you guys sneaking those 25's in low like that!  Shame the 38's had to come down from their perch into our fighting envelope.

Of course the P-47's suckered us at A10 and got more than even for you guys at A23.

It's been a few years since I have been active in the Aces High format of online combat, and by thatI literally mean the original version of Aces High running on an AMD 400. Abyhow myreasonfor stopping by your forum is to see if any old squadmates of mine are still around, maybe even active in your squadron.....some of the names that stick out were my #1 partner in crime ArKane and Ramrod, I used to go by Sixmark (aka Six) I would really love to get back flying with them if they are still around, but if I cant find them, I would still like to find another tight group of pilots to tear up the skies with....please feel free to contact me on the forum or via email

I joined 18 months ago, after going a long time as a lone wolf, and trying several squadrons.

It's great to be in a group based on personality (as in "all around good guys"), rather than on skill or "winning." I've been impressed over and over at how squaddies go way, way, above the call of duty for each other -- phone calls to help out during tough times, computer parts in the mail, whatever.

The squad's tag line says it all -- "Where men become friends, and friends become brothers."

I joined these silly puppies a couple of years ago.  I played AH for a bit over a year and had a great time with these nuts.  I have not played AH in a bit over a year....I am planning on returning when life settles....but I still consider this group of folk my friends.  I still have the 332's web site as my home page with no plans of changing that.  With this unit you make friends and have fun.  If that is what you want out of your online gaming time...you have come to the right place.

This ain't no punt! [Sorry DD] It's a sixty yard field goal to win the game!

It's UP!

AND IT'S GOOD

The Mongrels Win! The Mongrels Win!

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I can't say enough good things about the mongrels.

-There is every skill level from beginner to expert.
-There are experts in nearly every aircraft from P-38 to the A6M.
-There's almost always someone to fly with day or night.

And most importantly, the pilots' who makeup the 332nd have some of the best personality's I've seen in the game. I was surprised by their warmth and generosity. The humor and singing are just added benefits! So if your looking for a place to find good friends and enjoy flying together. Check out the 332nd.

I've been flying with the Mongrels for a few months and have officially been a squadie for a few weeks (great Christmas present daddog) and all I can say is this is a great bunch of guys that have really enhanced my AH gaming experience.  Whether you love the historical immersion of the FSO and AvA, or the general mayhem of the MA, this squad has pilots that love it.  They have really shown me the full range of gameplay that is possible. I think the range of possibilities is one of the things that makes AH such a great game.  Whether you want to fly in the TA, MA, DA, or participate in FSOs and snapshots, there is always a Mongrel around to join in the fun and to help and teach in every way they can.   Plus, what other squad has an organized jeep race?  What a blast!

I have had DD fly with my squad during an FSO to help our numbers & I have to say that he is a excellent leader with a good head on his shoulders.  The 332nd is fortunate to have such a CO.

For me, a good squad is more than just a collection of people flying together.

There are structures, goals, responsibilities, and recognition that exists outside the game. Essentially, a game within a game.

One of the great things about the Mongrels is that members chip in to help manage the different tasks.  The tasks are too great for a single person to manage very long. Having people willing to take the time to help manage the squad speaks reams about the quality and longevity of the people involved.

We maintain FSO Stats, Attendance, and other recognition based on goals, skill.. and sometimes just dumb luck.

It's a hoot.  Check us out!

If you're looking for a good squad to join give us a look.  I'd just be repeating what the other guys said but there's nothing like an FSO with the Mongrels.

After many years I am handing things over to:
JDog (C.O.)
Drone (X.O.)
Baumer (Operations Officer FSO)

The above guys will manage the squad better than I could. They all have strengths and experience that will only improve our squad. :)
Special thanks to Ghosth and Teeerex who were my faithful X.O.'s for many many years. :)
