Apparently you cannot get SP2 without turning on Automatic Updates in the Services window. Is this really the case and can it be turned off after SP2 is installed??

thats a good ?

I would avoid SP2 right now. There are many problems surfacing with this service pack. It also quietly installs .NET framework without your knowledge.

It seems like a lot of the "fixes" in SP2 are already fixed by using Mozilla, a hardware firewall and good anti virus SW.

For us ignorant people, what is .NET framework?
I'm looking to upgrade from win98SE to XP but was waiting for the SP2 disks to be out (don't want to download a service pack on dial-up)
Maybe I'll just stick with the older SP disks....

Ive been using the RC2 beta for SP2 for about a month, and got full SP2 D/L last week. Everything works fine so far.
