Title: Attitudes in the CT?
Post by: Sable on August 20, 2004, 10:19:51 PM
What is wrong with people?  So tonight I form a raid - some groups of RAF Bostons escorted by my Spit (since no one else would join the mission) and we go bomb 46.  Not suprisingly with full radar and full icons the 109s descend on us immediatly and a couple of the bombers get their bombs off on the field before they are massacred to a one.  I shoot down one of the 109s, and then black out avoiding the pass from another and crash.  At which point someone says on channel 100 "Jeez, pork and auger raids in the CT".

WOW.

Someone tries to add a little historical flavor and fun, by flying a group of escorted bombers right into the teeth of the defense and people have to start talking smack.    That just drives me nuts.  Oh well ... just needed to vent.

That was a great raid, I was there.  Sometimes folks speak/type without thinking.  Just ignore them.

Welcome to the CT :(

The harshness started about a year ago. When I first started in AH, everyone was nice. I recall only ONE PERSON that would come in a trash talk. Now everyone does it. What is so sad is that those who do trash talk, use the words of one person most of the time. Those words from the one person I herd for the first time a while back. I can not believe one person can ruein an on-line game.

wouldnt matter if there was a now smack talk or crying Combat theater   there would still be those who always talk smack and cry  no way to stop it  I know its stupid but i just ignore it.

Hey Hawk, you been in there more than a year...  I left about 2 and a half years ago, and we were flying then... Actually I think it's mor like 3+, 'cause it was before 9-11 :D

Anywho, yer right about the trash talkers, Eskimo, and Hawk... Ignore em, as they're morons anyway. hehee  Yeah we'd get that in CT, and on some special events.  Sad to hear the level increased though.

Well now that my head has cleared a little bit I must say that I overreacted on Channel 100 and blew up which probably only made things worse.

And like Grits was hinting at I'm sure that are some 109 pilots with some big scores thanks to us. :)

Lessons for the future for anyone trying to mount a bomber raid like this:

 - the Boston's need some altitude as the ground fire is fierce and the 109's can knock down a bomber per pass pretty easily.  With some more altitude it would probably be easier for any escorts to limit the number of good passes the 109s get.

 - the RAF knew what it was doing when they were putting a few hundred Spits up to cover a dozen or so bombers.  Lots of escorts are a must to keep the bombers from getting wiped out.

Sable, no worries - I was the one in the wrong and to be honest I didn't see any really harsh reaction on ch 1. Any reaction I saw in the text buffer I earned.

Cheers,

Who, who do tell?  he was on earlier today busily racking up attack points in an empty arena.  He wouldn't engage unless it was over his own ack.  Way too funny. :D

I flew 1 sortie in an F6F on a town, ran to the ship when I was out of ammo, low on gas, damaged from the ack and you arrived in your F4U-4.  This was my first sortie in a month, yes the arena was empty when I launched.

I then flew several sorties that mixed it up since others had arrived in the arena.
The other "Run" was when I took off in a F4U-1 to engage you, climbed all the way to 8 or 10 K, as you outclimbed me.  I then RTBed out of boredom.

You always get so frustrated when youy get repeatedly spanked storch, and it shows.

Eskimo. There are certain ettiquites in the CT
Now while I dont care if you are a HO shooter< i saw this last night in our fight. You took  4 HO passes at me. You also fought over yer cv in the puffy acks the whole fight, whatever floats yer boat.
What bugged me was you being axis and upping the arena porked chogs to do your face shooting.
That seemed a bit rude and out of place. But hey you better use superior SA and even by your words
  " yup a 800 yrd 1 sec face shot"
because thats the only way you gonna down most of the CT fighters.

Actually, the thing I really like about Eskimo is he never denies any of his actions, to the contrary, he does what he has fun doing and thats OK. I dont have a problem with Eskimo, or anyone else, who says "I do what I do and dont hide it".

Besides, Eskimo has thick skin. :)

I’m proud to be a HO dweeb and take every shot I can regardless of the angle.  Yea, I fight dirty.  My first objective is to frustrate my opponent and they get dumb and become an easy kill.  I take every advantage I can get, and when you get one on me it wasn’t because I was being nice, it’s because I screwed up.  Both time we fought and killed each other we were far away from the CV.  If I take of from a field or CV and there are high cons circling, I climb in the ack until I get close to equal E.  So what.  If anyone knows how easy it is to blast someone who is way low in E, its me.

I did fly F4U-1s for the allies for about an hour, against F4U-4s, F4U-1Cs, A6M-5s, P-38s, F4Fs and Seafires (5K:1D).
I then flew KI-61s for a sortie (2K:1D).
And then I flew the Chog for the Japs (7K:3D).
I think that I saw 3 Jap planes while in the PAC setup, and one was mine.  The arena was porked, most folks were ignoring the set up, immersion was lost, I joined the crowd, big deal.

" yup a 800 yrd 1 sec face shot" – I never said that.
The 800 yard shot was not even close to a HO, I was on climbing on your six, and wasn’t gaining.  I took the shot because you were going to turn it into a rope-a-dope soon.

“because thats the only way you gonna down most of the CT fighters.”  - Sure, 100% of my kills are HOs.  As long as I’m on your six, you’re safe, keep thinking that.

LAst night, nothing. Today he ranks #20. I bet $100 he gets #1 before tuesday :aok

PS: I suspect you will see him in a GV for the next day or two!

I dont have any problem with him either. I actually get a lot of entertainent watching others attempt to unseat him, and almost admire his singleminded dedication to score whoring (meant as a descriptive term, not a derogatory one).

Trash talking is one of the downsides of only having a max of 20 guys to the side.  At least that's the way a wingie explained it to me.  I've spent the last two years in ww2ol a place where there ain't no trash talking just good old fashioned stab 'em in the back and run just like real life killing of the enemy.  You never talk to the bastages cause you can't unless you're so emotionally immature that you've got to go to their forums to do it.   I try to fly as realistically as possible and yesterday I caught a Zeke about 40 miles away from his base and bounced him from a 10k altitude advantage.  The first zeke went down but the second started high tailing it south.  I pursued and upon seeing that I was getting close to his base and that I could now see other guys coming up I put my Corsair into a right Chandelle and headed for base.  Man you should have heard the *****ing on 1 which immediately made me use the best AH2 feature of all ".squelch 1"  End of story.  I flew my game the way I want to fly my game and don't need to be concerned about what anyone says.  Then today in a Spit I took up solely on a photo recon mission as I'm writting a 3 sim review, I got jumped by a bunch of 109s while low in alt.  So?  I runs like any real life pilot would for the safety of home.  Whiz, Whiz I go trying to land while the evil Huns attempt to dispatch me while landing.  All of a sudden I see that I killed one of them.  Here's the worse feature of AH2 coming to my assistance, the proximity kill.  Evidently the moron just couldn't tone down his testastorone pump low enough to realize that my field AAA would kill him.  Lucky for me I already had channel 1 on squelch or I would have heard them ***** and moan.  I would suggest that anyone who doesn't want to keep the CT as realistic as possible go back to the MA and enjoy.

realism?  fine.. i'm sure you've died at least once in each setup.

so, for the sake of "realism" you should not fly any more in a setup after you've died once.

deal?
