Title: F6F Gear bugs
Post by: Jasta on August 21, 2004, 02:47:41 PM
This is probably a little picky, but drives me nuts.

Just noticed these today. But on a carrier today, i was in the hangar. I noticed that my hellcat's wheels were spinning a mile-a-minute in the hangar. Of course no engine on or anything. Also, when the wheels come up on the cat, they poke through the top of the wing for a second.

I have compiled a list of spinning wheel airplanes.

Both A6Ms have both wheels spinning.
The Kate has none!
The Val and F4F have both wheels spinning.

All variants of the F4U have only THE LEFT wheel spinning!

The FM2, SBD, Seafire, and TBM all have both.

Wheels do not spin from land bases, and I have logged on and off, closed AH, restarted PC. It is not just my computer acting whack.

Here is the photo of the wheel that slices through the wing on the F6F. I havent checked any other planes though.

Methinks it has to do with the way the wheel-spin is modeled in game. It seems to use motion in relation to the ground. And since the carrier, and it's hangar, move in relation to the ground, the wheel spin model tells the wheels to spin...

It's amazing how long-winded things that 'make sense' to me can be, aint it? :D
