Title: Text Buffer Suggestions
Post by: CurtissP-6EHawk on August 22, 2004, 10:26:18 PM
1. Enabale ch 200. Player has to "select" is thus forfits text police.
They should be able to say anything they want on ch200 without being monitored, muted or ejected from the game.

2. Keep ch1, monitor it and remove any player that abuses it or any other "PUBLIC" ch. This way guys in other countries can still comunicate without having to listen to the ch 200 garbage.

3. Squad ch is a "private" ch and should not be monitored. The squad member can always remove himself from that squad if he does not like what is being said.

That is an interesting and thought provoking suggestion.

It's a shame that it probably will not be accepted.

why don't you simply encourage like-minded "thank you sir, may i have another" milquetoasts to simply detune 1 (or 200) and use an alternate channel, such as say 210, for the tea-time chats?

Admit it, Shane... you had to look up milquetoast before you used it.

LOL! But seriously, I haven't seen any moderation on 200. So what's the point?

I was moderated on ch 200 for using acronyms (ie: wtfg, wtf, stfu etc.) kinda lame. If you ever listen to real combat audio they swear like drunken truck drivers in combat. heh

Real combat wouldn't have a ch 200 (or ch1), you'd be limited to talking to your own side on range channel only.  Real combat wouldn't have 8 year olds.  Real combat radio wouldn't include conversations with the recently dead.

Because we used to have a channel 1. Was a problem, don't want it to be again.

200 would not be used if channel 1 was open, and we would be back to how it used to be.

That is pretty much what I figured. Why cant the current arena staff do what they can to clean it up? I know this can get sticky but its better than nothing.
BTW, when are the new forum rules going to be inforced? I am still learning. I even posted this in the wrong forum:D
Dont you think its time to remove any name calling, etc? I made an game suggestion, you called it, case closed. Why all the name calling?

How about removing ch1 from the CT. So what exactly is the diff between ch1 and ch200?
Title: Text Buffer Suggestions
Post by: Shane on August 23, 2004, 06:36:00 PM
ch200 is entirely voluntary.. you *have* to tune to it. There are still "rules" for ch200... just as there were for ch1.

Ch1 was always a default (and still is). One had to "detune" it. Hence, many noobs and over-the-shoulder viewers would be exposed to, well, you know how ch1 can be and wouldn't necessarily know *how* to detune it.

In the MA ch1 is full of nothing but 's by using some special dot command which send a to the player you input. That's the *only* thing on Ch1 in the MA.

i'm all for making ch1 and 200 in CT similar to the MA. and you can always lobby fellow CTers (or MAers for that matter) to make, say, ch 210 for tea-time Stuart Smalley chat.

Thanks,
I just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly. I forgot that CH1 was reprogramed for the xxx command.

So that only leaves one thing left to do. Start enforcing the rules.

Forum Rules- All users read (01-01-2002 until 01-01-2011)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.

2- Threads should remain on topic, do not "hijack" topics.

3- Do not open a new thread that duplicates a current topic.

4- Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users and HTC. Flaming or abusing users is not tolerated.

5- Flamebaiting, trolling, or posting to incite or annoy is not allowed.

6- Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". Issues with any breach of rules should be brought to HTC's attention via email at support@hitechcreations.com.

7- Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated. This includes attempts to bypass the profanity filter.

8- Cheating allegations or descriptions are not allowed. Email support@hitechcreations.com to report any issues regarding this. HTC permanently bans anyone caught cheating in Aces High. We take cheating and allegations of cheating very seriously.

9- Complaints about a player's behavior online should be emailed to support@hitechcreations.com rather than posted to this board.

10- Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance.

11- Do not use overly large signatures. Signatures should not take up more than 5 normal sized text lines in height. Do not use images in your signature.

12 - Users are permitted to upload one of their own avatars. Avatars must be in good taste and consistent with the other rules of this board.

13- Do not punt topics. Punting would be making a non-substantive post for the express purpose of bring the thread to the top of the thread list.

14- Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts.

Posts and threads may be edited, deleted, or locked for violations of these rules. Continued or blatant violation of these rules may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

Spikes, why would you boot this very old thread?

Sorry but your reputation just slipped badly in my book.
Your down into "ignore anything he says because you can believe any of it" territory now.

Odd. but it seems to me that everyone switched to 200 BECAUSE you had to manually tune it in in the first place so that people could squawk away and ayone who didnt want ot hear it would stay tuned to chan 1

Ohh for Chrissakes!
I shoulda looked at the date first.

A word to HTC

Perhaps there is a way to automatically lock threads after a certain time period to prevent this sort of thing
Say 6 months.

IMO while older posts should remain readable for archival porpuses.
There comes a certain point where they shouldnt be allowed to revive in an active form
