Title: Houston Area Shows
Post by: slimm50 on August 24, 2004, 10:07:23 AM
Just a reminder that there are two very nice air shows coming up in our area:

1.) Wings Over Houston; October 16, 17 at Ellington Field;

2.) Fly Day; November 14 at Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston.

For my money, the one in Galveston is the better of the two. It's much smaller in scope, but also much smaller crowd, and you can get closer to the ol' birds. Better photo op's here. If any from here can make either of these it'd be cool if you have a cap or shirt with the Aces High logo on it. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for them. It'd be nice to meet some of you there (I'll prolly be at the Galveston Fly Day).

Hey slimm.....email me.  I am moving to Houston next weekend and will definitely be at the Galveston show.  I may make the Sunday part of the Houston one but I have a big homebrew competition that weekend and not sure if I will have time for both.

Planning to be at the Wings Over Houston show.  Have to camp out pretty early to get a decent spot.  I'll have to fork up the money and buy some AH wear :D.  I might try to be the Galveston show in Nov.!

I have your email Acid.  Once I get more particulars I will let you know.  Its a yearly competition they have down there that is hosted by the Foam Rangers homebrew club.  It is called the Dixie Cup and is part of a 4 stop yearly competition that also includes DFW, New Orleans and Orlando, FL.  Check out the Foam Rangers website for more info.  I have never been to the one in Houston, but at the one here in DFW we have a commercial tasting, room crawl, dinner and pub crawl that you can sign up for.  Of course each little part has some cost attached to it.

unfortunately she's been grounded for several years (assuming you're talking about the Texas Raider).  I crewed on her for 3-4 years and she was a ball to work on and ride in.  Shame they can't get her back in flying condition.  Plan on making the wings show....btw-Galveston is worth the trip when there is not an airshow...

I'd like to go, but I probably won't. There are reasons.

Anyway, the Galveston Air Museum has enough to please anybody.
