My dad picks up the pallets at the big warhouses. They use pallets to transport goods all over the world. he probally makes 200- to 350$ a day on avarage. So one day in novermber. A dumbtruck hit him. The dumbtruck ran a stopsign. He was badly hurt adn coulndt work. For months so he took it to his lawyer. they sued the company and on friday 27th of august.heheh:D Hes getting payed a settelment of 72,000.00. 23tho goes to the lawyer. All the rest goes to him. now I can afford the computer of my dreams. Thank you dumbtruck driver thank you:) :aok .
-
Oh yeah, your dad gets hurt and all you can do is gloat about getting a computer.
Real classy there bud.
-
Tell him to spend some of that money on an english tutor.
-
nevermind
-
If you're really lucky a dumbtruck will deliver your pc. Dumbtrucks are blessings in disguise.
-
P.S. Don't be surprised if your Dad decides to use the money to feed you, clothe you and keep the utilities on while he recovers, which I hope he does.
-
you dont need pc3200 with that cpu
-
He recovered. And I am not getting a 50,000 dollar computer lol. Hes the one that said he would buy me a computer.

Quick ... what's 1/3 of 72,000 (American Dollars) again?
-
Im confused, did he get 73 million for 73 thousand. And if you were spending 50 grand on a computer thats a shame. Move to Hawaii and and buy an island. Or even better invest in a incredible cpu for HTC.
-
"23tho goes to the lawyer"
$23,000 more likely than 2/3ds..
-
It's time to leave this thread between you two and enjoy. :D

Ahhh .... the pidginspeak kinda threw me, there. Well ... thank God for dumbtrucks then.
-
The good news is that the lawyer earned $23K for what must have been several hours of hard work.
-
I bet the lawyer has a honkin' pc.

Was it a 'dumbtruck' or a 'dumptruck'?
Or are you being witty by calling the 'dumptruck' and 'dumbtruck' for running over you dad?
Not being an ass. Just didn't know if you knew you were spelling the word incorrectly.

AND=an I'm prosuming, Just didn't know if you knew you were spelling the word incorrectly..
Just really trying to be an ass..

and=an=a
prosuming=presuming
-
Garbage in, garbage out. :D
-
Hawklore,
It seems that you are the one being an ass.
Possibly this young person doesn't know that he might have been saying the word incorrectly.
I don't get any gratification from pointing it out. He might receive some benifit from learning the correct spelling.
On the other hand, it's possible he's being witty and calling them 'dumbtruck' on purpose.
I will say this...if I was saying or spelling something incorrectly I would rather someone tell me at the earliest possible time so that I wouldn't continue to look silly.
-
fwiw I was wondering the same as Drunky...
If the post had been written by Drunky, for example, I would have assumed pun, easy. In this case, I was leaning towards misspell.
-
It's 'Dumptruck'.... And just be happy your Father is alive...

If it had been me it might just as easily have been that I was drunk and thought the 'b' was a 'p' but just upside down...or right side up...hell, I'm drunk, I don't know.
-
So, how do the Feds tax a settlement like that? Do they give a watermelon whether or not it's replacing lost income and tax it as such, or do they just hit you for 50%?
-
As long as a computer comes out of it, it's all good, I guess.

tell your Dad to send you to school...
and maybe buy you a hooker...
btw, does your Dad steal pallets, or are they given to him?
Just curious, because I had over $5500.00 worth of pallets stolen this year. If he does steal them, where do you live, because I am gonna run a tank through your damn house.

We have to lock up our pallets to prevent the same kind of problem. They like to steal the ones from Bonsal apparently they are well made pallets.

We do too, but the bastages are becoming very adept at either climbing a fence with razor wire and throwing them over, or outright cutting the lock. Sadly, the 8' X 5' pallets are the ones they like the most, and they are $90+ a piece....
The plastic pallets are like Gold, so I keep those in the building.

Cant buy an one of the big islands. But I imagine that if you contacted DOLE you would be able to work something out for one of their smaller islands.
-
I need a new computer also. 5gig AMD would be good.
;)

$55.00 each but our homeless are much less brazen than your's apparently. I thought Miami was bad. If we catch them inside the property they get a complimentary azzwhipping. It's worked OK so far.
-
#$%^# Pallet thieves! I have had them arrested many times in the last 20 years.
-
so if your dad has all that money, why isnt he buying you it in one of them uber new alienware computers?
-
Wooden pallets (the good ones) are expensive cuz they're usually made out of a hardwood, like Maple.

Geez my dad only gets paid 1.70 for the 40x40s he brings in. Down here in portland plastics dont sell for much.

40x48 3 boards cost 10. bucks, so your dad is stealing them, costing US 10.00 bucks, and getting paid 1.70$ for them.
Generally, they are green oak around here.

LOL he is not stealing them my dad is not that type of guy. Really the only reason he does pallets is to pay for his schooling to become a commerical piolt. he simplys has contracts with companys. They give him free 40x40. Only if he hauls away there junk pallets to. 40x48 are not worth 10 us dollars. at the most worth 30cents.
-
Usually 40x40 are disposable pallets, that is true.
-
LMAO What kind of backwards neighborhoods you guys working out of that you have problems with people stealing wodden pallets? (the plastic ones I can understand)
Why the hell would anyone be stealing pallets cept maybe to use as firewood
Practically cant give the things away around here
Hmm maybe his dad was stealing them and that why he ran him over with his dumbtruck :D

rofl Morph would you please give the kid a break. You stay on his case about his posts. A lot of your posts don`t come off like brain surgeon studies themselves. :D
He`s a pretty good kid from what I can tell. He`s fun to fly with and is always polite....................wel l until someone winds his clock then he turns into Taz in the text buffer.
I mean after all, none of us are perfect. You, for example, rode a rice burner. It was hard to take, but we forgave ya for it. :)

When oil wells dry out, we will be using WOOD to heat the steam engines. Think about THAT next time you dispose your companys wooden property.

A few years back we had keg parties in our backyard all the time. We would take pallets from the grocery store down the road to use for the bonfire. Throw 3-4 pallets on hot coals, man those things give off some heat. Roomate left his cooler too close and before anyone could notice it had melted.

Alas .... current gas prices makes transporting pallets from NJ to Oregon via dumbtruck impractical.

In my case anything that is my companys property is my property
Only occasionally do I get anything delivered on pallets and when I do I usualy jst toss em. Or break em up for firewood
I have no use for em and like I said, youpractically cant give em away around here.
Hell even when I was an ...employee (blech)
Any company I ever worked for usually just tossed em in a dumpster unless whoever made the delivery specified they wanted em back which was rare.
Again. why would anyone want to steal em?

Looks like Oregon and Joisey value palettes differently. Here too, for that matter. We had a guy regularly come and pick up palettes that needed fixing, bring back good ones and charge us 7 bucks a pallet when I worked for Gould's pump. Generally we'd buy a hundred or so pallets from him a week. It's all he did. `Course, he may have been retired ... but it sure looked like it was a good additional income, if so. Saw him delivering to a couple of dozen different businesses across town. And I'm sure I didn't see everyplace he went.

I've never stolen any pallets but have been given some good hard maple ones by the company I worked for at the time. I do cabinet making as a hobby ( no, not kitchen cabinets) and the larger peices can be left to naturaly dry and then be re-sawed into usable boards.
Hard maple is just that, hard, very tough, and though a bit of a pain to work with they make great furniture.
