Perfect example of how screwed up the Olympic coverage is...
Gymnastic Champions Gala?
Gimme a break... We want Misty May! Hell... the "Gala" isn't even a contest. It's like watching the gawdamn ice capades! Who gives a rat's bellybutton about the stupid gala?

You were so right about the coverage being at fault here....
It's so bad...
Time to divy it up....

When do the marathoners have their fun run?
It's ratings. 35% of those who have tuned in so far tuned in for gymnastics.

I turned it off right after the KerriWalsh/MistyMay post-gold interview because I knew from that point on it was all downhill.
Natalie Cook is the Brett Favre of beach volleyball. I gotta admire a lady who can compete with one good arm and still take a match to three games. Way to go, Australia. Oy! Oy! Oy!

Apparently, I'm not the only one... Linkage from Grunherz (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/chris_ballard/08/24/gymnastics/index.html)

Lots of gymanstics, lots and lots of it. I dont mind them showing it as some of those people are capable of doing crazy things but I do wish they showed more of the other sports like weightlifting.
US olympic coverage always seems to slant towards girly things but this year is actually much better than I have seen before, even if its still too much..

Bingo. I think its NBC's apology for showing man-oriented stuff like NFL and NBA the rest of the time. The only time NBC shows swimming, gymnastics, and diving is during the Olympics.
