Mid-airs are modeled, 2 dang cool. One of many things I hate about AW3.
Hey Pyro & HiTech, you sure you only want $30 bucks a month, We are getting off cheap.

Mr.Ed,

I'd swear that on two separate occasions I collided with Spitfires.  The first time was an HO where I pinged him, but I lost part of my left wing when it appeared to have collided with his left wing.  Second time was when I was following a Spitfire through the top of zoom.  He was in the act of stalling when I put a burst into him at less then 50m.  His aircraft appeared to slide off me a little bit, since I was still pulling upwards as he was beginning his stall.  On each of those two occasions I distinctly heard that sound you hear when hit critically, except that in the second case there was no shot opportunity for the Spitfire, sice it had basically fallen on me from its top.

If this did, indeed, occur then we finally have a collision code that is great!  Now there is the possibility of ramming and partial damage.  Also, collisions appear much more precise: if it looks like I won't collide, then I probably won't.

Yeah, the collisions are done very well.

I remember sneaking up on a con from a low 6 o' clock position. Put my sights on him at about 150 yrds and started firing. He didn't blow up and I had a lot of speed on him, so to avoid collision I violently yanked the plane to the left. I almost made it  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
What prolly happened was that I collided with him with my right wingtip, which fell off. I looked back and saw the con blowing up, prolly because he received greater damage in the collision than I did. I however only had a slightly damaged right wing and was able to get back to my field and land.

In WB we both would have been dead upon collision instantly.

When the flat rate kamikazis show up, you will like it a lot less.

Gadfly, you honestly think more "flat rate Kamikaze's" are gonna show up when they are going to have to paying a fee, than could possibly show up in a "free beta"??

LOL!!!   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

One time I was going for a B-17 in a spit.  I sawed off a wing, and got below the B-17, all of the sudden it rolled over in the sky and swatted me out of the air like a fly.

Don't fly too close to what you kill.

I am also getting a little tired of the "FLat Rate Pricing will draw scum" Drawl.

I can't afford more than $29.95 a month.  I am not a kamikazee, and applaud HTC's decision to go with the flat rate.

My only reply would be to tell Gadfly to take his elitist viewpoints elsewhere.

Don't you hear 'em chant?

"We are the flat rate kamikazes. We pay $30 a month just so we can piss y'all off. We climb hard, dive on our helpless victims and ramm 'em outta the sky! Death to you all! The flate rate kamikazes have come to ruin the game for everyone, and they are here to stay!"

It's a giant conspiracy, I knew it all along!

on topic part (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

the collisions seem to be actualy correct. i am not a programer but it seems to me that the location of the planes it much much more in agreement on the different front ends. man that is confusing . what i mean to say is that in wb there was a bubble i believe if you touched this bubble you colided (on 17 the thing was from wing tip to wing tip and had a spike (suposedly) sticking out (the bottom ?) so if you knew what you were doing you could kill a buff and survive un touched. this (if it was true) sucked and made the whole thing unpleasant to me.

now i love the model here (there is no bubble at all? it is really the planes damage sections inhabiting the same space?

TOWD loves this guy sasha.

the skill and quality of anything canot be figured by its cost least of all people.

at 30 bucks a month

i say we are finaly gonna be able to make this a hobby that the common fellow (i.e.not wealthy)can get involved in. and fly enough to get good at.

i am not wealthy and war birds was just to expensive to keep up in the fashon i would like.

when ah anounced the 30 buck deal i simply rejoiced and i think alot of others did to.

i was and still am a avid reader of agw (sorry alt.games.warbirds) for the nubys here  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). was a great read every nite almost. tons of info on ww2 birds and anything else that came to mind. now it seems to mostly be a rant fest. (but i still read most uf um   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif))

now that group is of such a controlled nature that the rants have gotten really repeditive.

this new sim will not be filled with rude children at 30 bucks monthly i think.(its not at $00.00 ) ohh they will crop up im shure. but hitech and pyro seem to be bright semi well ajusted guys, every prob has a answer. with thought and work we will fix most of um (as in you act in a vulgar or threatening manner your gone )i can think of a system to do this so i bet the boys at htcreations are well ahead of me.

ohh well i am signed on for the long term and am from a demographic that they were pricing themselves out of in brand w so yiiiippppeeeeeeeeee!!!!

also POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
(just say that to make leonid smile)

I am rather surprised if you can inflict damage uppon the other player if their FE does not see the collision in AH. Meaning there willl be no flat rate kamikazes cause ramming someone in a way that will surely cause damage to _them_ is difficult - due to the net lag - same as warbirds.

What we have in AH now is perhaps different means of detecting the collision ( finer resolution ) and different end result ( parts falling off instead of ka-boom-you're-ded ). Which I agree are very nice improvements how ever.

HT or Pyro care to clarify?

Actually, you are correct, I have not flown AH online, only offline.  I am a buffer, so at this point there is no need to fly it online as it it a waste of time.

BUT, that does not mean that I cannot think logically of the possabilities that this will allow.

So they are not abusing it now?  BFD, give it time, my brother, give it time.

As evidence I will give you one word:

Ackstar.

Prosecution rests.

<edit>  And you are correct about the flat rate comment, I apoligize, cause it will not matter a whit what the rate is.<edit>

Kats the system is only one way collisions and is what your FE sees. The dection mechnism is collide  the shapes only.

WTG.  That's a tweak that's been needed "over there" for a long time, as is the "lose the part that hits" code.  Hehe in fact almost everything in AH is like a "tweaked" version of what's in WB.  Except for all the new stuff of course  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Now what ya oughta do next is to slow down that guy running to the airplane and the bunker a little bit, and make him visible on the ground to the other players too.  And make him steerable.  And give him a Tommy gun.  And some grenades.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I'm liking what I'm hearing on this point. Actual damage to the parts that hit instead of just instant puff of smoke.

Chalk up another for AH. WTG pyro & co.!!!!

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Hitech, it is the same as WB then, just tweaked a bit as to the damage model.  Good.

Gadfly your wrong again
maybe you should quit while your behind
there can be no ackstars cause you gunners wont fire a lick without a human behind the controls. No dweeb AI gunners in this game
At least not in the buffs anyway
If I get shot down by a buff gun at least Ill know a human did it.

I was using the WB ackstars as an example of what can be done, not an illustration of AH.

And not to worry, you will not get shot down by bombers, cause there won't be many flying.

There were plenty of 17's on LAST night .. (me included) and there were also quite a lot of gunners.. (cuz you can hop in DURING the flight and don't have to stay on for an hour!) .. Nope Gadfly .. this game will have BUFFS flying around .. gunned by Humans i'm pretty sure about that!.
