Title: Moving my AH2 folder to a new PC. Tips?

All,

So I have a new machine - just in time for the Con too. Anyway, I would like to just avoid redoing all of my settings and sound files if I install AH2 from scratch on the new machine.

I was thinking I would copy the AH2 folder from my old computer to the new computer, and then download the AH2 full installer, and then install it to the folder that I just copied AH2 into. I'm hoping that the installer will do what it needs to do to Windows, but that my custom sounds, gunsites, joystick mappings, and other preferences will remain.

Is this they way to accomplish this goal? Or is there some other better way.

Install Aces High II on your new system, then copy the "settings", "ahiiterr", "films", "sounds", and "squads" folders over from the old system.

Or, zip up the entire Aces High II folder on the old system and unzip it over the new installation of Aces High II.  Just be sure you have the same installation paths for both systems.

Just a followup.

My old system has AH on the C drive with Windows 98.

The new system has XP on the E drive, which is where AH installed to. (There's a C partition with Win98/DOS, and a D with Data).

I just made sure the old computer had the  latest AH patch, installed the most recent download on the new PC, and the copied the aforementioned folders over.

I had to recalibrate the stick and change the video settings for the new video card, but that was pretty much it.

I played for two hours last night, and it was fast and smooth, and no crashes to the desktop at all.

Even the 9 year old Thrustmaster FLCS, WCS Mark II, and CH Pedals, all running though the gameport on the Audigy LS, were working great. And this is a P4 @ 3 GHz running XP even.

Ah. No, I have all my machines conencted to the LAN at home here, so I just copied the folders over.

easiest way to moove your ah2 folders is to.
install ah2 on your other pc 1st.
then replace the files it made with the 1's you wanted to moove.

This will ensure no registry problems occur
