Alright I am leaning on towards getting one gig. But my friend said I wont see a deffrence in gameplay. Is that true?
-
I see on other post you went for the gig wtg ;)
-
I installed a gig, for Forgotten battles mostly. Less jerking and loading, but I wouldn't say the difference is huge especially in AH.
-
At the way games run now on my A64 and the way they ran on my XP2600 I wouldn't have had anything less than a gig of RAM. I started with 512MB but quickly saw the error in judgement with the 512 using the old CPU. Then made the upgrade. Not to mention a short while later jumping to the A64 CPU with a gig of RAM also.

:) im going to get 3gigs that how much my mother board can hold thats what im going to use

go with 2 sticks of 512. your mobo can run memory in single or dual channel mode. 2 sticks of matched memory will run faster than 1. if you fill all the slots it will run in single channel mode.

Not always so. I have a 512 + two 256s running in dual channel mode.

512 will be enough for any game that loads less than that amount. For any game that want to load more you will see a performance and/or quality hit with only 512.

if you pre-cache in ahII like i do you'll need more(i've seen it take up over 590Mb at times)
-

3gig is TOTALY OTT and wont gain you much at all

LOL

Going from 1 GB to 3 GB will likely result in a slightly slower system overall. Loading all memory banks with 1 GB modules will certainly force a 2T command rate (and possibly other memory timings to be set more conservatively) and decrease available memory bandwidth. (I'm also ignoring the fact that a 1 GB memory stick is extremely expensive.)

Tell that to my pc thats running 384mb's ram .. I dont think it knows any better yet.

So Does AHII work better with 1gb than 512, or is it a non issue?
