6 years ago in basic training, I saw one of these beautiful machines and said I wanted to fly it. Last night, the AF told me I could. I should be flying it within the next 6 months.

Who's the other one Funked? I'm sure Mj would love to talk with them about which B1 base is better for the long term.

abilene (SP) isnt that bad. South Dakota is a pretty nice state but I think the base their is pretty isolated.
Look forward to some good TDYs!

Your girl is big, fast, and good looking. Enjoy your time flying her while you can! :)
Best of luck to you in your upcoming career. Always take care of the ones who take care of your girl. While you sleep they treat her like their baby. Never forget this and you will be well respect by all.

Very sweet, beautiful airplane. Let us know what you think -- my dad helped design that thing's engines and would love to hear about them from a pilot's point of view.
-
I hate you
-
Congrats, enjoy and thanks for serving!
Well done!
-
Congrats,
I am currently at Elsworth AFB in the RV camp. This base is home to the 28th Bomb Wing and they fly that bird. If you get sent here it's a very pretty but small post. The "club" is a joint use club and only open 4 nights a week and they alternate except for Friday. Housing looks very nice and the area around Rapid City has several nice things to see like Mt. Rushmore. I just hope you like cold weather. :lol
-
Congrats sir!
My best friend's nephew is a B1 pilot. Don't think names are a good idea in here.
-
One of those babies circled our neighborhood low and slow several years ago. Very impressive. Got a good look at it from my car. Was making some pretty tight turns too. That is an awesome plane. Congrats Mjolnir and Good Luck Sir.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I still can't believe I got it. Maverick, cold weather sounds better to me than Texas heat, so maybe I'll be up your way before long.

What a cruel blow. Within days of hearing his dream is about to come true, he loses his life. :(

Remember, Texas heat leads to lots of this:

Im really confused, you sure these are same people? one is 'AKMj' (of arabian knights) the other is 'MJOLLNIR'. (of 327th talons)
they have completely different flying styles (checked career stats) and AKMj is doing USAF training, MJOLLNIR died at 41, they do training at 41?
-
WTF???? :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
-
now im abit confused too.. if there are 2 that is.
-

I am terribly sorry if I am wrong. I always thought AKMj was the same personas Mjolliner. As was mentioned though, 35 does seem a bit old for basic training. I sincerely hope I am wrong, though of course it is still very sad if this is two different people.
Actually, something has been nagging me all morning; were they in fact father and son? I seem to remember being confused about their identities in the past.

This is what you get when you let girls post on the BBS.

Hey, wait..... he said 'girls'....... :D <50-year-old 'girl'>

Oh geesh, I open up the BB this morning and read this. Nope, not the same guy folks. My husband was still alive when he left the house a few hours ago. Originally he had the MJOLLNIR handle when he flew with the Highland Raptors at the Air Force Academy (actually I believe he spells it with one less 'L') but had to shorten it to put the AK in front for flying with the AKs. If the other Mjollnir has passed away, I'm sorry to hear about that. :(
Oh and they'll do training up to age 30, after that you need a waiver. Mj will be 24 this month. I'll post a pic to prove he's still alive when he gets his wings on the 10th.
-
No need for proof Athena, a mistake was made by someone. I can only imagine how you felt when you read this :(
-
Honestly, if he had been flying today, I probably would have called him on his cell after reading this thread. But then I went on to read the other one and realized it was indeed the other Mjollnir. I'm sorry to hear about that though, Mj and I always used to smile when we saw his name come up with victories on channel 1.

Well I think he is an ex-AHer since getting the new job, but Durr got a B-1 assignment last I heard.
-
Congrats AKMj AND Athena! B1's from some squadron or another visit Honolulu once in a while. Hearing them lift off and pass by off the coast is a great experience! Especially at night, the roar scares the wife and occasionally sets off car alarms but man, talk about the sound of freedom :). Thanks for your service and many happy landings to you!

Congrats, Lt. You make this old retired AF Major proud...and very jealous! If you fly into the Springs, how about a look in the cockpit?
-
I am so sorry for the confusion, Athena. :( I can imagine it must have really unsettled you.

Hey Sabre... My brother-in-law is a retired Major living in the Springs. In fact his last assignment was at the Academy as part of the staff.

Man, I feel wrung out after reading the entire thread. Very bitter-sweet.
