This is an early prototype of my friends controller mount system.
http://simsit.biz
He made this up after seeing how I modified my chair to hold my HOTAS.
His idea was to do the same thing , but make it so it can be removed from the chair when not in use.
So, whaddya think?
BTW he has taken the time to acquire the patent rights.

great idea!
i would suggest incorporating some sort of arm rest for the gamers elbows as holding a stick in 'mid air' as it were, becomes very uncomfortable after a while.
comfortable armrests would certainly be a big buying point for me.
just my opinion though, great idea and best of luck to your friend with his marketing!

but sitting on a sheet of plywood isn't my idea of comfort...
And, ummm, how many seats has Simsit sold assuming Smsit should sell some??
Chance2
:-p~

How many sim sits could a simsit sell if a simsit could sell sits?
-
Remember where I said its an early prototype??
And actually he has a hole cut right where the bones in your butt would hit the surface.
Besides a simple seat cushion takes care of the padding nicely.
Im sure that the final production units would have a cushion of some sort built in.
And if as I have found with my own setup, any rests for my elbows or forearms only interfere with use.
By placing the controllers in a position where the angle between your forearm and upper arm is almost 90 degrees, youmake use of the controllers more comfy and easier to be precise.
Its also supposed to be better for your body as I understand,
Whats the word....?? "ergonimic"!

Although I'm not a pilot {or even pretend to be} but if memory serves me correctly the stick "joystck" sits in the center ?

Hmm, if it's gonna fit you, the plywood had better be big! :D

Looks like it would allow uninterrupted dogfighting even while you're on the john...

Good Idea but like Moil said. I fly with my stick on my lap. I cant stand to have it off to the side, it jus don feel right. :)
Maybe a detachable extenshion from the front center for the fighter plane feel?
good luck.

IF you viewed the video ,
You would have seen the platform that lets you use a center placed stick.
Now all that aside, I have tried to place the stick in the center when I first started some years ago and found it to be uncomfortabe.
Its just not the same as a real plane. Probably because on your typical WW2 Fighter you didnt have to manipulate 4x 4 way hats and another 5 buttons all on the same hand.

Interesting.
How does it work with chairs with arms already attached.
Have him write to me at cofster1@simhq.com when he comes closer to release. If he can keep the price reasonable he may make some money off of this. I see other uses besides simjocks.

"ergonomically correct position"
I don't think sitting on that flat board would be ergonamic. Looks painfully.
I was going to make something like this picture.
( see the chick in the lower right)
I'm going to make two trays that bolt into my current chair that are adjustable. I'd still be able to lean rotate ect. and be comfortable.
