You dont even need to go that far.

Cut out LA and SF then put them out to sea... same effect.

The bay area is not northeren cali.  it is central cali, just look at a map.  They may call them selves northeren cali but they are all a bunch of liars any way.

Isn't it funny how terms like "redneck" or "cracker" are acceptable, but "jigaboo" or "porch monkey" are out of fashion?  Not picking on you MT, just thinking about that "Bigman" ultra melon.

I was surprised to find that "spear chucker" was also frowned on.

bad part about the bay area is that now that it is a socialist paradise the comrades are fleeing it in droves and heading north to get away from their fellow comrades.

You are correct.

I do have to say that "Porch Monkey" made me laugh though. Never heard that one before.

They're also running east into Arizona and Nevada, and Idaho.  :(

Seems they can't stand the place they made, or can't afford it, so they run away from it and lack the understanding that they are running from there own creation and right away start changing the place they run to into the place they left.

I just crack up at how many midwest guys wanna bag on CA, yet thousands of mid-westerners flock to CA, EVERY year. They get sick of shoveling snow & working at the local hardware store, save up enuff gas money to bail out, then hit the hiway westbound. They come back & visit now & again, but 90% ofem stay. I wonder why that is?????????

And to answer the question, I have been all over CA, I dont think you could split CA in any direction & achieve any big sway in political belief from 1 area to the other. The entire state is very ethnically diverse, as well politically.  Now if you wanna start comparing rural areas to urban areas, I think you might get the results your speaking of. But I think that is likely with any state.

P.S. the rest of you taxpayers better hope NOTHING happens to the WORLDS 5th LARGEST ECONOMY. Cause you KNOW who will be paying all those taxes if we aren't?  YOU WILL! Have a nice 80 degree sunny weather day, I am going to ;) ( do I wanna take the boat to the lake, maybe a concert or show, walk along the ocean front, or hike in the mountains? soooo many choices)

Anton, anton, anton.....

As bad as my state is (Louisiana), I have NEVER desired to move to Ca. You can have it bro.

Let's not talk about taxes my friend. If Ca. could stop screwing up their electricity problems, you would not have to buy it from other states and charge your residents outrageous fees and such. Half the problems Ca. has is because of the freaks that live there.

As for long walks, holding hands on the beach....talk to Karaya, he needs some stress relief the way he's been going off on the country channel lately.

The real Californias

1. Northern CA - Draw a line due west from Lake Tahoe.. Everything North of this line might as well be Oregon.

2. North West California - Everything from Sacramento south to Santa Barbara and west of that line. Hippie heaven and silicon city.

3. Southern CA. Everything South of "NorthWest CA" up to about 80 miles inland. Hollywood and it's environs. Also all the crowded beaches.

4. Redne... er Eastern CA. - Might as well be Kansas, only better weather and more corn.

Split the electoral college votes evenly?

If you divide it into Northern and Southern California, what would the difference in populations be?

Uhm... huge or extremely huge?

Northern Cal would be given about as many electoral votes as Delaware.

While I do not agree on your criticism of our state (LA), I do agree wholly with the California crack... the land of fruits and nuts. Its a model of over-taxation and how bad it can hurt.

The Saints are going to whip all three of the CA NFL teams this year. :)

And Im also having a wonderful 85 degree day... a little more humid and wet than yours, but wonderful all the same.

Oh come on Jasta....let's be honest, our state blows monkey chunks. Louisiana, almost last in education, I think Miss. blows bigger chunks than we do.

Politics....well, let's just say that we've had our share of shadey people in control, and currently, we have a dim wit for a Governor, and that's putting it politely. I bet this dumb broad will get swindled by Benson.

And speaking of Benson, I would take any one of Ca. pro teams in exchange for those winless bums we call the Aint's. Those pathetic do-nothings will be bottom of the division again this year.

Now, I will say something good about Louisiana. At least we have the Napoleonic Codes, even if they are getting set aside everyday by poor legislation passed in other states like Ca.

Oh well...can't win em all I guess

(note: A majority of this minor and poor rant was posted in all good fun.)

Lousyana is the most backward state in the US, bar none.  And I say that with a deep affection for it, having spent a lot of my life there, in Lafayette and N'awlins.  When it was time for me to start a family, however, I left the state.

When I lived in cali I fell under option #1, and it still was horrible.  We tried to succeed to Nevada, and in fact almost 95% of the county voted to succeed but the state said no and that was it, guess they didn't want to lose all "their" water...

You don't have to worry about me, almost a year in Montana and love it more and more each day.  Even if I had to move for financial reasons I would never go back to californistan.

Darwinian theory at work. The weakest can't hack it and leave. It's why Cali is a blue state.

I believe that Northern California typicaly votes majority conservative as oppossed to liberal.

it's the weather and the land.  You can see about any kind of terrain in Ca within a tank full of gas or less.   The weather suits most people.

Bad part is that 10 years ago only 20% of the population couldn't afford to buy a house here... now it is 27% and going up.

I've never lived in the bay area or Los Angeles. I did live for a while in San Diego and that is about as close as I've been to a "liberal enclave" and it really wasn't at the time. It was a Navy town 25 years ago.

IMHO, California is far more conservative than most from out of state realize. Of course, that's just my opinion. I grew up in San Joaquin valley and I currently live in eastern Kern County.

Exactly. I often visit my family in the Modesto area. I have no intention of ever returning there. I like the middle of nowhere. I might move farther north one day, but I'll probably stay on the east side of the Sierra Nevada for the rest of my life.
