Title: Me163 Komet skid bug
Post by: vega on August 30, 2004, 08:41:01 PM
No matter how gently you set the 163 down on the runway at the proper speed, the skid always collapses and the Komet scrapes in on its belly.  In AH I the Komet never did that.

My komet has torque on take off. Am I the only one?

There is a big turbine in the rocket motor, that forces the C stoff and T stoff in to the combustion chamber......

it spins fast... could be that
BTW did you know that the fuel lines were made of ceramics?

For me everything BUT the skid breaks when I land the 163.

If you hold full back stick until 100mph, you won't have any problems on take off.  The 163 seems to behave as though it has an "unlocked" tail wheel.

The Komet DOES behave like it has a tailwheel, and it DOES behave as though it is reacting to propeller (torque) forces.

This is all incorrect flight modeling as far as I'm concerned.

It reminds me of the LA-7 where you hear the slats slamming in and out all the time.....even though the airplane has no slats.
