Actually, it was yesterday. We found out today.
The message below was copied from the 327th Steel Talons mail list:
It is with deepest regret to inform the 327th that one of our own has passed on. Ubb and myself learned that around 1100hrs eastern today, MJOLLNIR had passed away yesterday of a heart attack. His son was online to inform us of the tragedy. He is suggesting a memorial flight and panzer salute at 1800hrs eastern in the MA. Please respond to let me know if this message has been recieved by all air crews. - SPQR[/I]
He was only 41 years old. I turned 41 earlier this month. And I missed the flyby this evening.
-
Damn he was young :(
My sincere condolences.

Very sad news, he was way too young to die.
If I recall, MJOLLNIR’s been playing AH for 3 or 4 years…?
To his son and family, you have my condolences. I’m sorry to hear of your loss.

Each of us has a spot in the lives we touch, and he had a big one in ours. Almost always on our channel when he was on, I can't remember a time when he did not greet everyone when they logged on, nor can I remember him not saying goodbye when he left. I guess you never know when that last goodbye is said, until it is too late. One thing is certain, 41 is way too damned young, and it sure as HELL ain't fair.
-
mjollnir you s o n of a b i t c h! I am gonna miss fighting with you.

My condolences to his family & squadmates. :(

Oh my goodness, I have just read this thread....... My sincere condolences to his family and especially to his wife who also plays AH, as Athena. I remember MJ well from one of my first AH scenarios that he and his fellow cadets (at the time) were COing. He and Athena were stationed here in the UK for a while during the last year or so, but unfortunately I never got to meet them.
Athena, I am truly sorry for your loss. I tried to email you through your profile, but was unable to. Please feel free to email me (helen@flossy.co.uk) if you need someone to talk to. I can't begin to imagine how you must be feeling now. :(
MJ.... sorry I missed the memorial.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Yes, Horn. :(

This blows. He saved our tulips once when he single-handedly destroyed the Bish radar a few weeks ago with his suicidal Lancaster run, and he made it home safely.
And he was flying just a few days ago...
A final to Mjollnir.

Mjollnir
you will keep flying with us forever!

Yeah, that was my question too. The one here was an AK not a 327th.

I sincerely apologise if there are in fact two separate identities. Something in the back of my mind says they were possibly related? Probably wrong about that too. Sorry AKMj and Athena for the confusion. :(

to Mjollnir's family and friends.
He was always a great guy to go up against and to see today (its been a bad week for me but nothing compares to this) that a man as young as him lost a battle like this really brings perspectives back to what is important in life.
Thanks for all the flights and fights Mjollnir. I had fun when we went up against each other.

As noted in the OC, the 327th will perform a missing man flyby for MJ Monday night @ approximately 10 PM Eastern. This is an OPEN flyby, ALL are invited to take part. This flyby is being done for all those who missed the first, which was done at the request of MJ's son, and many missed.
The 327th Steel Talons welcome all of you to join us in honoring our fallen comrade with a final flyby.
-
JG-3 Would like to participate in this farewell to our fallen comrade. Just let me know where to be at the chosen hour, and our squad will be there, ready to go as a Bishop squadron giving our final respects to a great guy!<

A BIG
to his family and ~S~ to the squad, my condolences.

My friend! We had some awesome tank battles at tank town and one of my most memorable fights was a 190 on 190 engagement where we both survived but were bloodied. I will miss you! My condolences to your family. I am 42 myself and this just makes me feel my mortality. I hope your family knows the bond that exists here amongst the cyber warriors. We will truly miss you.

Once again, the entire 327th Steel Talons Squadron would like to thank all of you for your expressions of sadness, and your memories of Mjollnir. We'd also like to thank those who took part in the flyby Monday night.
We have been asked about email and snail mail addresses for Mjollnir. Oddly enough, Mjollnir never filled out his pilot profile, and as such, we do not have any addresses for him. This is one that just slipped through the cracks, as most pilot profiles are filled out, and we now require them to be before induction into the squad, but Mjollnir was inducted before the policy change, and the fact that we didn't have the information was overlooked.
I do not know how long it will last, but currently there is a chance that you will see Mjollnir's son online using his (Mjollnir's) account. We would hope that he will continue to be here, but we don't know.
