Ok....I am wondering if any of you out there is cyber land can recommend a decent place to stay in the Orlando area. Am leaning towards Kissimmee area (only cause my brother stayed there once and liked it). Am looking for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom townhouse, apartment or condo (or hotel suite). I will be traveling with my wife and another couple and will be visiting in the first part of December (08-15). Need a place for 7 nights, we feel the need to come and spend our puny Canadian dollars to help prop up the US economy.
We had been thinking of going to California but Lazs and Grun are there :p

Best wait and see where Frances comes ashore. It may not be back up and running by then. ;)

I live in Orlando.
Accomodations here are numerous, the question is what you want to come here to do?
Theme Parks? Space Center? Museums? Night Life?
All the above? If all the above then your best bet (and best way to save money too) is to go to your travel agency and book a 'disney vacation'.
They will give you 7-day park tickets, hotel accomodations & lots of free goodies including (mostly) free transportation to the attractions in the theme park area (its actually a service in most hotels).
Night life in Orlando is easy to get to from the disney area hotels as well (heck 70% of it is IN the disney area). If you want to visit kennedy space center you can rent a car or grab a cab/bus there, its a 2hr trip but well worth it.
Just a few tips for you though:
1- dont use hotel cutlery (forks/knives) and bring your own pillow. Trust, me I used to work in housekeeping/maintainance in many hotels in the area. Bring your own.
2- if possible get the 'VIP' tickets to theme parks. Nothing sucks more than having just a few days to visit the parks and only being able to go on 4 rides a DAY (7 hours average) because you had to wait in line for 1-2hrs per ride (each ride lasting 5 minutes tops). The VIP passes lets you skip 90% of the line.. and its about 30 bucks more expensive than regular tickets but damn its very worth it.
3- research the places you want to go before coming here. You can lose an entire day's worth of time deciding where to go.
4- whatever you do, ,wherever you decide to go.. you MUST go to the MEDIEVAL TIMES restaurant (located in Old Town). Perhaps the best restaurant in town for the food quality, the entertainment and the prices. Reservation needed in advance FYI.
5- Sorry, contrary to popular belief, ,Orlando does not offer or accept trade-ins for 'newer' models of w.i.f.e.

Orlando in December is very nice but crowded as heck
anywhere on the west side of Orlando will keep you next to the parks. make your reservations soon as it sells out as that is considered the "season" - the season us locals stay away :)

Thanks for all the responses (and I was kidding about Cali...been there a couple time and have always had a good time);)

Um, I would like to ask a question about Orange, California and I was wonder if there is any mountain in Orange?
My Uncle was killed in car accident in May 1953 while he was on the way to Camp Pendlton before shippin' back to Korea War. So, My grandpa told me that he was killed somewhere in the mountain and could you tell me is there any mountains in Orange, Cal?
Thanks :)

Marriot world trade center in Orlando has 2 bedroom Villas on the golf course you can stay in, they are very nice:
Marriot Imperial Palm villas 8773306400
http://marriott.com/property/propertyPage/MCOIP
Its adjacent to the trade center and overlooks the golf course from your patio.. Downtown disney is about 3 miles and its located on the west end of International drive..
Kissimmee has the olde town thing going on but am not that impressed unless you like large fleamarkets, but there is a medieval themed restaurant with live jousting thats kinda fun. few miles west is the Warbirds museum and the place you can fly a T-6 for a few $,
Good luck

Stay in Sanford(sp?) in fact you could prolly fly there and commute to Orlando it's pretty close to it, at least when I went there it was don't know about now the traffic and such.
