Good god, I would of loved to be their as they raised it...
WOW!
What else is under there?
-
in another lake there are several ju52's in perfect condition. they had to do emergency landings on the lake when they invaded norway. they froze and when spring came and the ice melted they sank and are sitting perfectly on the bottom
i think that is what happened to these planes too
-
Thats awesome....were there any..ummm...crewmembers still abaord?

No They were stationed on a frozen lake because their base was not safe. The weather changed and the ice melted. The planes just sank.
-
Good thing it was freshwater, the interior looks very well preserved. It's noce to save a piece of history for future generations.
-
It is in remarkably good shape.
-
The 111 will be sent to a museum in Germany in exchange for an airworthy Starfighter. The ju88 will prolly stay in Norway.

Yeah. Its been semi-submerged in mud on the bottom of a freshwater lake.
-
I wonder if all this is a sign that we will get the HE-111 in AH :p

Probably the only He-111P left in the world.
Those look like Merlins to me ?
-
Is that plane in Norway GS ?
-

The JU-52 a pretty plane!!
Noone agrees with me though..
-
Aha.. never been to that museum. I spoke with my dad today and he was interested in going up to watch the HE111 that they are raising tomorrow. Maybe we will go.

I do.. its been on my wishlist for AH for along time. Its beautiful in its simplicity.
-
Saw on operated by the CAF - menacing aircraft in person.
-
Do a norwegian skin of the spit for us GS!
-
i hope they can get it flying condition and flynig. it is really sad that there are no He111's left in flying condition.

Yeah, but HTC dont need to know that :p

While keeping them safe has its merits, a grounded bird is somewhat less than alive. When you hear it fired up and see it scream by at 300 MPH it becomes something else entirely.
-
What good are they sitting in a museum collecting dust? A cardboard mock-up can serve the same purpose. I'm all for flying the until there's no more left that can fly.

I saw her fly once (think it was that one) at the 50th anniversary of Bardufoss airfield, when I was a kid.
