I see some "suspect" piping in there, Morpheus. ;)

what's it in?
more pics!

Well that explains your avatar. Is is street legal or only for dragstrip ?
Edit: Anyone know how's HBlairs RX-7 making progress ?

Nice Morpheus!

that does it!
im moving to the US

Yeah, its still street leagal. I'm sorry I have no pics of exterior but I've posted a few before of it so i dont want to post the same ones. Its an 89 mustang GT. I'll take some when the outside looks like the inside. Its been in the garage all summer so its anything but clean.
Still much work to do on it but its close to being track worthy now. A buddy of mine just got a new tig welder so i did some practicing and got ok at it so i decided to do make a boxed upper intake. Which is really why i took this pic.
Still have to run some intake pipes from the turbos and do a few more odds and ends here and there but all in all alot has been done this summer. Once all the piping is done for the intake and im happy with my exhaust im sending it all out for ceramic coating.
The car should run deap 10s.

yee haw... I really do think turbos are the wave of the future... I don't like em for various reasons but that is a very clean installation...
And to think my excuse for not being on AH lately is nothing but a lousy room addition.

I wanted to do something different. Around here there aren't many turbo cars worthy of mention. And the few that do have them are very well known among the racing scene. Im talking about real cars here. 900+ rwhp. Tubos are honestly the easiest way to get loads of HP while remaining the most efficient. As far as forced induciton.
I had wanted to do a stroked 460. But it would be in no way a streetable car after that. Forget going on sunday drives. So i started with a 351 windsor block. Bored and stroked to 408ci all forged rotating assy. After that I was done and more than happy. So i thought... Then I was able to pick up a set of T72 tubos for next to nothing. And they were like new. So i did some reading, lots and lots of reading. Talked to many with turbo cars like the one I wanted to do and my summer project had begun. All i had were the two turbos. Everythingn else I built myself. Lots and lots of welding and fitting and some trial and error.
The car only made one pull on the dyno so far. During the pull it was leaning out, not bad but enough to make me nervous so i took it home and redid my fuel system with Aeromotives set up. Gobs of fuel now. And with DFI i can tune this motor from my laptop in the car. Which took several months to save up for to buy the DFI. But well worth the cost. No hp numbers yet. I'll update you on that once the thing is tuned and ready for the track and street ofcourse. ;)
I had always sworn my the juice. It was the easiest way to get unbleivable power gains. Now that i am finished here (almost) I'm askign myself why I didnt do this sooner. Ofcourse there's always the easy and most obvious answer, money. But it was much more simpler than I had ever thought. Pretty basic installation.
But as Kappa always tells me... Its only dirty paper kid. :)
PS: TW after slaving over this heap for months on end. I've earned the right to show off my progress :p heh.

Wow, didn't know you could get a V8 in one of these!!

;) Nice engine! Seeing purty engines like that makes me miss being a mechanic!! :)

looking good morph .. Hey did you add the alcohal kit to it ???
We gained 2 10ths by adding one to the Grand national . it cooled down the charged air nicely .
-
Carefull,
Someone will want to perk it.
-
Nice choice the 351W. Its always been way under-rated for performance potential. I can remember way back in the day when I was into street rods (we're talking the 70s, dinosaur stuff) all the supposedly "hip" Ford guys touted the 351 Cleveland but I never liked it as much as the Windsor motor.

Those blowers are enormous.
How well will that engine handle the boost and how much are you pushing?
What internal mods did you make? Pistons, compression, etc?
-
Nice work and time well spent.

who cares what the engine is like, how big is the rear wing? and how big is the Type-R sticker?
-
If a wing and a type-R sticker make you go faster, do my whitewall tires and Buick hood ornament make me go slower? :)

I found a picture of the exterior.
15 RWHP for the tail lights
10 RWHP for the side skirts
15 RWHP for the rear valence
50 RWHP for the rear wing
10 RWHP for having a single exhaust outlet and duel cutouts.
10 RWHP for the bling bling wheels with no drop
So he's pushing 110 RWHP over stock with only exterior mods.
The lack of primer or paint on the aftermarket body plastic is good for weight reduction, which will be particularly helpful in countering the addition of 300 pounds of ICE, which I assume is in the trunk. Good for traction.
Unfortunately I dont see a Type R sticker anywhere. This mod alone is good for roughly 60 RWHP... and if its written in red that figure is bumped up to 75.
This car can run deep 9's easily while intimidating the other drivers with its aggressive and hardcore look.

engine=confusing= not my thing.:o
looking nice morph . (i don't really like american cars on the fact they are mussle cars and slow to accerlerate.)
-
Not all American Cars are muscle cars. Look at the Ford Focus, its no muscle car.
Morph, great work there. Im anxious to see the completed package!

get the hint, i don't like american cars or japanese for that fact. I'll admit enland makes good cars and um i won't mention france for flame reasons. German cars are teh great imo. Ripsnort and his BMW and carpeted garage. hehe that a porsche come to mind when i think german cars. for GT2 i have a huge inventory of German cars to choose from. the only none german cars i have is the penzoil nissian thing. a escuido pikes peak and 5 others i can't remember. i could race my audi TT LM all day long and kick serious ass. the only german company i hate for GT2 is volkswagon. as me and my brother call them "Tissue box" that is what i can vans. (scion XB is a major tissue box as i call it)

The youth of today where will it all end?
You see 400 plus cubes of VERY tidy looking, twin turbo-charged Windsor smallblock tucked into a Mustang(all apparantly street legal too), and talk about Eurotrash , Gran Tourismo and how American muscle is slow off the mark?
There is without a doubt enough get up and go in that Pony to have your average Beemer driving suit popping off to the dry cleaners for some stain removal, be sure.
Oh yeah, and about those good English cars....who the hell told you that??? Come to think of it, you've gotta be trolling.
BTW, sweet work Morpheus, very jealous I am........Police opened a hood and saw that around here, they'd probably shoot the car and throw the owner in the nut ward.

flame bait........
Lotus, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Rolls Royce (not sure if these are still built in UK actually..) Bentley, Noble(look up the M12 GTO and you will be suprised), TVR, Caterham, A.C. and M.G. to name a few... oh, and silly me, what about McLaren.

Yeah Furball.....and your point is ;)
J/K keep yer knickers on mate.

i guessed it was a light hearted comment, why i typed flame bait!
Was just an excuse to list off some nice car manufacturers!

Much prefer British or Italian over German cars. BMW cars are like their bikes, boring. Like driving/riding a computer. Plus I don't know who's desiging BMW's these day's but they are hidous from every angle.
My brother in law keeps on buying Porsches and Beemers, no idea why because for the same money he could of had one of these.

For me I just have to stick with my Jeep and bikes. :D

The engine was built to take boost. And lots of it. 8.0:1 compression pistions. The rotating assy like I said is all forged and built to take extreme punishment. The block as been filled with concrete around the cylinders effectively making it bomb proof. If something went wrong and the wastegates stayed closed under boost, it would hold together with out a problem. And the 35psi ratings of the turbos is no where near the range that this block should start coming apart. Did i mention this motor will see 7500 rpm? Not too shabby for 408 ci eh. Take the time to build it and build it right and it will do anything you want it to. I didnt want to be the exception of that rule so I cut no corners this time around. Right now the turbos are set at 15psi. But with a simple turn of a knob I will have it boosted to 21-23 PSI and the real fun begins.
I have been dreaming and playing around with some math in my head and have started looking into a fogger setup. A small 50 shot of nos just for the first 60ft to get the turbos spooled up quicker and in the boost.
This car is meant to go straight and fast. To compare it to a BMW or any of your other eruo cars is doing neither car the justice they deserve. Put your fastest BMW, Porche ect on the line against this car and it will be eaten for lunch. Put my car on a road track and I'd have a hard time cornering out of the pits. Straight and fast is all I care about.

Morph,
Looks great!! That is a clean install and some beautiful hair dryers. Post up some more when you get everything coated, I can't wait to see it finished.
You know we are going to have to have a video of the dyno pull when you get the bugs worked out.
Have fun with it and congrats on the near completion.

Yeppers a video is a must; there's never not too many of them in the web :)
-
We are due to take the car back to the dyno sometime at the end of september. I'll make sure we take the vid cam and get some film.
There are a few guys around here that have done a start to finish video of their project cars. With good music in the background and then some dyno pulls and 1/4 mile runs in there at the end. I would really like to do something like that.
