Title: nerfed rounds?

what causes bullets to be "nerfed"?  ive noticed it several times and just logged, figured save myself the hassle.
ex.  hit a spit tonight with la7(3x20mm) from a distance of less than 150.  he never even smoked, flew like nothing was missing(turning that is).  did get picked by one of his spit buddies, but that was my bad SA.  i dont fly la7 much, but from the sprites i seen, he shoulda popped after first hits(from previous kills in it this month), then alone the second wave of hits.

i have noticed this too,  my biggest WTF? moment i remember since being in AH2 - i absolutely plastered an f6f around cockpit/rear fuselage from a typh from 200/300 yards as he flew across in front of me,  for no visible damage at all.

of the f6f? possibly, i record most of my flights and i dont care enough to sift through them all to find it.  sorry.
