Title: Ichiro in the month of September

Post by: FUNKED1 on September 07, 2004, 01:15:24 AM: Funny thing is that even with all those hits the guy only has a .417 OBP and and .889 OPS. Good numbers to be sure, nothing too super for a corner outfielder. He's entertaining as hell to watch though. A leadoff single is no more valuable than a leadoff walk, but a lot more fun.

He had a horrible opening month going only .250 or so. It seems he figured something out halfway through. When's the last time you remember someone climbing towards .400 this late in the season vs sliding away from it?

Post by: Mini D on September 07, 2004, 10:55:27 AM: Yeah... it looks like Ichiro will be close to .380. But, once again, this is after being around .310 at the allstar break. There's been quite a few hitters at .390 around midpoint of the season, but they always slide in the second half. I honestly can't remember someone climbing so drastically in the second half of the season for some time.
