Same line directed at Taligunner Joe 50 years ago needs to slap Dick Cheney in the face today.
"If we make the wrong choice, then the danger is we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that'll be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and we'll fall back into the pre-9/11 mind-set that these terrorist attacks are criminal attacks and we're not really at war,"
Nazi-like propaganda BS!
(yea I said NAZI)

Well, its my belief that if Kerry is indeed elected, move out of the large cities. (http://www.blackhelicopters.com) You'll thank me later.

Kerry plans on removing the DHS?
It doesn't matter who's in office, the most unsecure aspect of our country could ship GPS nukes to any part of the US - our ports.

I believe it was Frederick the Great that said, "Little minds try to defend everything at once, but sensible people look at the main point only; they parry the worst blows and stand a little hurt if thereby they avoid a greater one. If you try to hold everything, you hold nothing."

Wow, he must have been talking about Kerry's political positions... :)

MT...the old days of "Have a Coke and a Smile" are gone for a while. You can't teach the world to sing in harmony when you have someone that wants to shove a bayonette up your privates just because he hates the lifestyle we have.

Yes, it was Frederick the Great who stated that, but you read in Hap Arnolds autobiography that defending everything at once is exactly what the British did in the Battle of Britain, and they suceeded.
On the first of this thread, once again someone takes the cheap and easy, but not necessarily well thought out line about Tail Gunner Joe. What that ignores is the fact that yes, there were communists trying to make inroads into our society. Joe McCarthy was correct in his thinking, but wrong in his method of investigation and prosecution. As a whole, he may have saved us much trouble in later years.
I won't fault Channey for advocating vigilence and action to prevent terrorism from spreading in this country. Clinton and Dole may have been happy to bury their heads in the sand, but I prefer leaders who stand guard instead.

the veep's comments were over the top and out of line IMHO, and I am a supporter of the current administration. When i read the entire paragraph the offense did not seem so aggregious as the partial sentence that was shown on nearly all of the television stations indicated. But it WAS something he should not have said. Coupled with his loss of control over his oral faculties in the Congress recently i wonder how long Dubya intends to keep him around after he gets re-innaugurated in January. Cheney, despite any closed-door assests he may provide the administration is nothing but an albatross. I bet that in the 1st quarter of next year Cheney will resign for 'health' concerns and Guiliani will be given the job of VP, all set for winning over Billary in 2008.

I suspect that their motivation is a bit more complicated than this.

According to Osama's own writings this is largely accurate, perhaps the added component of western culture being exported and adopted by other societies should be mentioned. But Goth pretty much nailed it, crazy huh?

Yes, they deeply resent the ascendency of the west to a position previously held by the Muslim world. They despise the freedom, and the basic religious beliefs the west represents.
They give no quarter, and show no mercy. They specifically target the innocent and defenseless. Their motivation is therefore irrelevant. It becomes them or us, they will not be satisfied until we are dead. The only option is to make them dead first. Simple.

Not to nit pick, but this is one of my favorite lines. The actual quote is:
"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
- Atty Joseph Welch, to Joseph McCarthy

Pickin fly poop outa the pepper again Sik. :)
Funny post Goth.. I wonder who you're talking to though. My problem with Cheney is that he is using this BS, propagandic fear tactic as a political talking point. It is uncalled for and should be denegrated by all with half a brain.
You, however, can keep on missing the point if you like, it makes for good comedy.
-
I did not really miss the point at all bro. It almost echoes how I feel about Kerry.
This is as justifiable a statement as many a democrat has made to senior citizens telling them that the great evil Boosh will steal their social security.
