Title: imagine...iraq agrees to terms of ceasefire
Post by: anonymous on September 10, 2004, 02:35:23 PM
no sanctions because the weapons inspectors dont get dicked around. no murderous purge of iraqis by their own army. fewer mass graves. think of the hundreds of thousands of innocent iraqis that would be alive today. if only theyd had a responsible leader who had even two cents worth of compassion for his own people.

or imagine if wed gone in and acted between 1992 and 2000. how many innocent iraqis would be alive today if coalition had gone into iraq in 1993 after only two years of iraq blatantly violating terms of ceasefire.

Imagine if the UN had stood together 5 years ago and demanded that Saddam comply.

Well since you lot have managed to kill approx 13,000 Iraqi civilians since th start of your little adventure, Saddam was obviously a beginner and could learn thing or two from Americans.

I suspect Saddam managed to kill far more Iraqis than that when fighting Iran.

id reply to this but ive got to stich my new "rumsfeld shock abteilung" cuff on my cammies and i still have to degrease my new luger they made us drop all those sigs and hks and go "retro" for secondarys. all of this done before tonight when bush and rumsfeld are reviewing the boys during a bookburning firelight parade with lots of drums. ill tell ya life aint easy as a civvie murdering goose stepping modern american nazi thug. theres some good news tho. the secret is fairly well kept. only twenty or thirty people on the internet know the real truth about america and so far for some reason most wont believe their reports.

you gents seem to forget who put saddam where he was and pampered his dictatorial bellybutton along the way....

So conserned about poor iraqies ? Since when ?

Genocide is ongoing at this very time in different spots around the world, and last time US President wanted to send troops there Republicans were up in arms about "US isn't a policeman of the world"

Hypocrites....

Torque....right

You are so right, the left would die if they faced the truth that in geo politics you have to pick the least of two evils. At that time iraq was less of a threat then iran.

In ww2 russia was a little bit of a lesser threat then germany.
 Good post.

what most of the people aposed to the war wont tell you is that if a democrat was president this war would have been completly justified and heroic.

not all republicans were against it. and what problem do you or anyone else have with principle that at time us helped iraq it was because they were in war with iran who was one of most bitter enemy of us. "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". the whole world has used this concept in foreign relation for as long as govts existed and its never been a policy that stands up to hindsight thirty years or more down the road. i guess in your world the perfect call can be made everytime well thats not how it works in the real world. iran was sworn enemy of us and were going to swarm iraq and be the dominant power in middle east right next to us oil supply. i would have loved to see what you would have done at that time if you were in a position to make a decision. as for us putting hussein where he was thats flat out wrong. he put himself in power in brutal fashion. let me guess you were protesting in the streets for us intervention in kosovo i take it?

Thats good - complain about the help we're apparently not giving "around the world" while insulting us at the same time.

**** you.

Your viewpoint is immature at best.  You havent the slightest idea how global policy is shaped or - more importantly - why - this is evident in your post and reinforced with your cute little "keyword" at the end.

I suppose its normal, though.  Somewhere in the world, while the Nazi's were slaughtering your countrymen, there were people saying the same misguided horse****.

Thankfully, we didnt listen to them.

Enjoy your freedom.

Funny, I seem to remember at the time the Democrats were all for going in when Clinton was in office.

Problem was Clinton didnt have the grapes to do so.

In response to fd ski's need for knowledge:

End of WW1 and Ottoman power yeilds to the United Kingdom trying to weild power, but region becomes increasingly difficult to govern.  The Hashemite Dynasty begins in 1921.

Monarchy:

King Faisal 1 1921 - 33
King Ghazi 1933 - 39
King Faisal 2 1939 - 58

Faisal 2 was only 4 yrs old when he came to power, so regents ruled until 1953:

Crown Prince Abdul Ilahi bin Ali 1939 - 41
Sharaf ibn Rajih al-Fawwaz 1941 (pro german coup)
Crown Prince Abdul Ilahi bin Ali 1941 - 53

Coup kills King Faisal 2, 1958

Dictators begin rule:

Muhammad Najib ar-Ruba'i 1958 - 63
Baath Party Coup

Abd as-Salam Arif 1963 - 66
Coup deposes Baathist

Abd ar-Rahman al-Bazzaz  1966
Abd ar-Rahman Arif 1966 - 68
Coup returns Baathists

Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr 1968-79 (appts Hussein as VP)
Saddam Hussien 1979-2003

The '63 and '68 coups had help from the boys at Langley due to the pro-soviet stance of the regimes they replaced.

Kind of like bringing home a new puppy that later turns out to be a viscious dog.  You should have known the puppy was going to turn viscious and killed it when you first saw it.

Wasn't that a prerequisite Holden? Considering you gave that cute and fund puppy a list containing thousands of civillian names who were to be rounded up and tortured or killed immediately following the coup, not few years later.

Of course that fact that Kassem had helped found the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in an attempt to curtail Western control of Arab oil and he also had been planning to nationalise the Iraq Petroleum Company in which the USA had an interest didn't play a part.

The US is taking the fight to the whackjobs instead of the whackjobs pulling off more 9/11's

I think the US military/admin leaders knew exactly what would happen in Iraq after it's "libertion" from nutbag sandman

They did the right thing by not stating it as such or all the hand wringers would have cried even louder

it is a historical moment in time, too bad a vocal few are too ignorant to see it

must be close after the 2. gulf war when no WMD's found,
looks like no one really cared after the 1. gulf war,
instead to help the people, the west build no-fly zones for years.
and who really cared THAT time about the iraqi people?
most didnt even knew where Iraq was located on the map. lol

Not sure what you are implying but you do know why the "west" established those no-fly zones, right?
