Another Officer in my Squad (Paul) suggested that Fate squadron spend more time actively pushing the war and less time on Rank.... I like his idea and I'm going to do all I can to push it forward.
Its probably a problem in many squads that people chase rank rather than making the Team effort. Its definitely a problem in all the countries generally... squad or not.
Starting now if you're a Bish, you're going to start seeing Fate throwing more public missions, or contacting squads for co-op work. We hope you'll be supportive and fly along as we try to bring back teamwork and fun above selfishness and rank. Or if you don't trust us to plan a mission (lord knows we might get you killed, its a risky job) then start planning some of your own and lets get moving forward.
And if you're not not a Bish, I hope that maybe you will take this idea home to your country and start doing the same. Lets get back to enjoying the game and stop staring at the scoreboards.

If the game is of numbers it will be played for numbers..............Period!
Always has, always will.
-
As long as it remains fun people will always join your missions.
-
As long as punch and pie is served.
-
You guys are a tough audience :-)
There will never be punch and pie on a Fate mission... only Porn and Tequila. I'm sorry you won't be attending :D

Kurt,
Another idea is to create a scoring system and awards within your squad. An award from your squad is much better then any ranking system.
Our squad uses the data from the HTC scores to create our own scoring system. Awards are given out based on what our squad values as important, not game score.
A few examples, we feel K/D is important, so we give awards for for this. Or Triple Crown for killing a Spit, LA7, and Nik2 in one hop. We even have a few awards for fun that no one want's. As example the Pink Parachute for the most bails and Limp Hose for the highest assists.
The game is what you make it :)

This is a good idea kurt. For the past few days, I've seen and heard people getting down right angry for others around them not being able to take a base.
Just yesterday, at A45. The Nights had more than half of their players at this base. And for over 2 hours they faught to take it. They did everything they could and even I carried bombs on my 38  . But the one thing they were lacking was organization.
Its been a very long time since anyone ran missions. I mean missions like Rocstar3 would run. Or Wax's missions, with 40 angry Niks and 10+ La7s along with goons. Even I ran missions long ago when I was a bish still after 6 months or so of playing AH which turned into an every day thing with 40+ players involved. Even Fester would run missions with 50 P38's, And reset the entire map in a single night.
No matter what anyone says about hordes, or steam rolling, those missions were fun and those missions are a big part of what is lacking in Aces High Tu~.

We have similar programs Gunner... Actually our squad is very tight in all regards, we are home to many of the arguably best pilots in the game... But we do go through phases.. Last month, I think we were like ranked 3 over all... But the idea is to move away from chasing those numbers.
We do squad tournaments in the DA, we have a fighter ladder, and all manner of cool tools like that... We have a nice internal rank/chain of command established... etc
But what we are talking about doing now is to stop looking inside the squad and instead, to start bringing something to the Bishops team as a whole... And to try to organize missions that win bases and by extension - Wars.

Thanks for your thoughts Morpheus.. It's good to know that others are on the same page.
I just don't want to see this great game turning into nothing more than a protracted furball. Like those Microsoft 'Zone' games.... ewww..

Over in the =Ghost= camp we have plane's of the tour .
(2 different planes get picked and the object is to get 50 kills in each )
we also get kudo's for a k/d ratio above 1 to 1 , base captures ,highest buff points, and exceptional mission stuff . (like staying alive ,saving tail , ect)
a few yrs ago we used to have the rank in the top 100 thing .. but as more players started gaming the game and score padding .. we just gave up on it (it was taking to much enjoyment out of the game)

Good idea! It takes somewone to start something like this. This is how the RJO started. Good luck! See you in the unfriendly skies :)

Understand your frustration Morpheus.
Was defending a base early this a.m. from a Rook CV assault. They were so intent on vulches I got 9 kills in a manned ack before someone decided to kill me. Few minutes later their CV got sunk, they didn't get the base, lol.
KurtVW - Make sure you contact our CO Cooley, our squad has never flown for rank, just look for the base covered in red dots with a few green dots inbound, that'll be us.

Missions are fun when you attack a base that is being defended. I never understood how attack undefended bases is fun. I loved Fairz il2 and 202 missions. Waffle did some great combined gv jabo missions.
