Since I haven't played AH2 much at all can someone tell me the major differences?
Whats this ENY thing? etc:P
-
AH2 is AH1 with better graphics, better flight model and more whining.
-
Patch 8 Changes
======================
Added a new country balancer that disables available planes based on country number
imbalances and plane ENY values. NOTE: Values for this system may change as the
system is optimized.

I must of missed those, still can't fly and yes more whines!

Hitech might could code the game where you can fly, MOIL ... but I hope not. :D

"Might could" is a sentence in itself, Jethro ... incomplete as it is. Don't make things harder on yourself than they have to be. That's the pit whiners dig. ;)
-
You know pit whiners.............haahaha
Easy way...............hard way.............I'll do the later
I love the Jethro part:lol
-
no changes at all except for graphics. gameplay still ultra dweeby,
-
B17:
"no changes at all except for graphics"
Agian, maybe I missed something or my system is screwed up:confused:
Maybe I just need a another new vid card
-
moil the GV gameplay has gone in a Change for the better due to graphics and you know that.
-
True. AAA truckdrivers can't even see how flat the branches are from their perspective.
-
Hhhmmm, my memory must be going. I don't recall seing you on the ground too much in GV's. Not that it is a bad thing {although I could be wrong} just an observation.
GV gameplay gone? for the better ? due to graphics?
Ok, you'll have to explain, I'm just not getting it. {or i'm a cheeseball}

The part in brackets is about the best observation I've ever seen you make. Go with that. :)
-
Hey, I'll be the first to step up on the BB and say I was wrong.
I have no problem telling someone or group that I was mistaken.
But to say everything I post is wrong, hearsay, hogwash, 100% incorrect or otherwise is BS ?
You know me, speaker of the untruth.

I didn't say you lie. I said you're wrong. See, you're wrong. :D
Shermie's gonna rock, baybee! :aok
-
"I didn't say you lie. I said you're wrong. See, you're wrong"
So I'm wrong, hhmmm
I looked and haven't seen B17skull post any reply so how come I'm wrong?
Did he say I was wrong? Did he say my observation was correct or incorrect?
But I'm wrong........................ .....................
-
Yes ... you are. Trust me. You really need to. :)
-
I forgot no one on this BB can be right, correct or have an opinion other than Arlo.
Trust you?
You gonna show me the light or try to convince me to come to the CT?
-
I don't really use GV's ever, but I'd guess it should be more fun for them now? I started playing the last week of AH1 or so... Noted the trees looked like AW and you could fly through them? (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Now, you get to drive all around them, hide under the branches, ambush people, etc. Seems like it'd be more fun? At least i recall people saying things like "gv'ing's going to be a blast now!" when AH2 came out?
Course, with no real experience in AH1, or GV's for that matter, I should prolly not be posting here. But it's late and my town is very boring come late August/early September :D
-
Sorry to hear things are boring in the ol hometown
Hide under branches? that's rich
The "trees" are a square box with a bitmap tapped to the side.
"At least i recall people saying things like "gv'ing's going to be a blast now!" when AH2 came out?"
Things don't always go as planned:(

Now don't go assuming that you represent the masses here. And for gosh sakes don't assume I want to take a month to train you to CT standards. ;)
Even when we run the Battle of the Bulge setup with the Shermie, baybee! Woof!:D

your shermie will be my tigers dog meat:D
-
Arlo, I do not speak for the masses, I will give my opinion or state the facts.
Train me to CT "standards" you gotta be kinddin me. I know your a respected pilot in this game and would prob kill me in a dogfight everytime with one hand tied behind your back.
GV's are a different story, I would send you home cryin'

Well, I've never been able to hit anything from the air that was under one of those "pseudo-branches" :)
In the open, it's a different story.

That's just it. All you'd do in the CT is try to milk it from a tank turret. I bet you'd have the highest GV vs object score there.
*edit*
Wait. That's unfair. Sure ... c'mon in. The water's fine. But you WOULD have more fun in a plane, right now. You'll be bored waiting for massive GV battles .... at least until the Shermie makes it's debut and we run the Bulge, baybee! Woof! :D

The bigest diff is that most Vets are leaving and squads are disbanding
WTG AHII :aok

Not an expert, but the flight and gunnery models seem better in AH2. For example, due to more precise gunnery model, it is now possible to dive away from a losing turning fight, if you do it properly, in the right plane. Gunnery seems to require more precise aiming than it did, and this has all sorts of benefits.
Others could probably address this issue better.
The MA arena dynamics are not pefect, and the ENY balancing idea isn't the best HT can think of. Just wish there were more opportunities for 1-1 or 1-2 fights. I keep encountering hordes (both theirs and mine).
Even so, this game is great (!!!), with potential for becoming even greater. I was just going over my old AW records (back to mid-1989) and AH2 gives me way more value for way less cost.

I would agree, the gunnery seems to be more precise. That is a good thing, more realistic the better. Of course I'm no fighter pilot

Thank you for the "edit
I didn't have the most successful GV squad in AH because I or we milked anything. The arena knows the truth. I think it's great that you support the CT like you do, just like I support,..........well you know what I support.
Correct me {which I know you will do} if I'm wrong the CT stands for Combat Theater not fighter duels, combat is combat. I have nothing against the CT, I think it's a great idea but from what I've seen & read it doesn't exactly have a line out the door.

Oh ... of course it doesn't. Any cursory examination of the current issues players supposedly have with the ENY restriction in the MA (which is the more populated arena) will reveal a plethora or reasons why the CT doesn't appeal to the majority of players in AH.
Anyone who can't live with temporary restrictions of uber planes certainly can't live with week long restrictions to a specific planeset. And anyone who lives for the reset would be sorely perturbed to find arena suddenly reset manually by the CT staff when things get a little to out of whack.
-
If I may?
Probaly THE biggest difference is not just the gunnery, but the affect it HAS on the gameplay. In AH1 it was the norm to see and get kills at 600-800. Hell, I always thought 600 was close.
In AH2 you have to get MUCH closer. More realistic. Most of my kills are 300 or even closer now.
The only downside is that you still get spray-and-pray in HTH where the host jacks up the ammo multiplier to 50x. Then people don't care what range you're at, they just hold the trigger while manuvering the whole time.
Aside from that, it's all good.
I don't do GVs much. They're too porked. From what I hear about panzers and rubber bullets I'm not missing much. Hell I was point blank behind a spawning ostwind, in an osty myself, and I fired 30 rounds directly into it's arse, I only started the engine smoking (and disabled the turret, as it wasn't firing back). But 30 rounds and no kill... yeaaaah... riiiiight...
So for PLANES, the best and biggest change is gunnery. For GVs the worst and biggest change is gunnery.
Oh and now it takes a LOT more system resources (at least compared to AH1)
-
I think the CT is a great "idea" I wish it were more mainstream {the norm}
I have always stated that HTC look into expanding the game, if you're going to make and tout this as a "Combat Sim" then make it a "Combat Sim" Not a plane dogfight heaven with a couple of GV's & ships to give ya something to do when you're not flying.
Again, nothing would make me {and maybe a lot of other players} more happy than to have a sim with as close to total emersion "as possable"
If you make it a WWII Combat sim, you now have, planes {for all the pilot guys} GV's {for all the ground guys} Ships/Fleets {for all the Navy guys} Resourse people {for the guys how like to stare at maps and work with commanders, flight leaders, ground forces, resource mangmt} Not to mention, supply runners, intelligence, searchlight operators, field commanders. What do YOU wan't to do?
The list would go on and on, the whole point is, instead of thread after thread after freaking thread of "I can't do this" "I can't do that" make it so there's more choice's than you can shake a stick at.
Why do you think games like "Eve online" "Everquest" "UO" and many others have so many people playing? There is a ton to do, I just talked to friend of mine not 1 min ago, he is big into Eve Online, I asked him how many people are on the server. He said on his server, 3655. Thats, three thousand and sixty five people.
Now, is it that game like this one......NO, but one of the main reasons people play these games/sims is {just like my friend} there is so much you can do and be involved in, not to mention they look spectacular.
This is were things start to make me think about things like the CT, sounds like you {Arlo} like the more stuctured, realistic, being a part of something feel, that the CT is trying to produce.
I think most {not all} of the guys here like that, that's why they participate in this game. Were all WWII history type people, they can't wait to fill you in on what fighter did what in such & such theater, what tank was mass produced and what the gun velocity is. What CV group was most popular, what the turning radius is on a Spitfire and what guns it uses. This is all the "good" stuff that we all can enjoy and share.
Take a poll, ask the crew.........or maybe I'm just dreaming.
-
Eh ... sounds good to me. I'm really easy about it all. I enjoy the game, still, no matter what's the current trendy complaint or how many hours I decide to devote to it for the week/month/year.
You're probably just as likely to end up seeing me rolling a Shermie on it's side down a hill typing "Woof, baybee!" (when it comes out) as you are to seeing me dropping from the sky in a burning plane that Shane helped make less aerodynamic. :D
