I just do not see any benefi of SP2, if you have been doing all the updates all along.

SP2 adds more ram hogging stuff, such as the .NET framework and IE gets even more bloated.

But will we be able to pick up future updates without having SP2?

I have the CD and was planning to put it on my work machine. Not sure about gaming rig though.

If you want to use the new cat control center you need the .net framework.

A very large, memory intensive control panel ATI came up with.  Has some nice features, but requires the .NET framework (ala Longhorn).
If you want to get a peek where MS is going with the OS, then load the .NET framework from the updates and install the new ATI Control Center.
Warning though, it does use a substantial amount of memory.

Loaded it on work machine. It does have an air of bloatware right enough.

How do you get rid of the darned Windows security Alerts icon in the task bar!

I think there are more processes running. Maybe best kept off a games machine!
