Hi Mates
Am wrestling with getting the USB CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro pedals up and running.
Is there a special way to set it up for AH? Can you do it in Control Manager or do you have to specifically set it up in AH? In the old speedkeys, could set everything up there.
Can anyone help me with this. Have not been able to fly since upgrading to XP.
Many thanks for any assistance.

Yeah you can... download the latest Control manager from CHProducts.com. Create a profile, then download it. You will have to set up the buttons in AH for it. Assgin the buttons from AH to CH. Then you can map out the functions in CH Manager and it sould work. Just make sure that in your joysticks it shows CH Device 1,2, and 3 for all three componets if you have them.
Hope you don't get too confused on that...

You have a choice. You can use CM if you wnt to use shift and modes for more inputs. Or if AH is your only game and 32 buttons + 2 8-way hats are enough, you can assign desired functions/axis within AH. If you want to use Control Manager, you can find all the info you need here, including AH contol maps, etc.

Majors,
Are you using USB or Analog ? from your question I'm guessing Analog, which is a whole nw set of problems. There are several threads on programming analog CH in XP. I've tried the boot disk and lots of other ideas. The only ones that I've found that work are to either dual boot XP and 98, or program your throttle and stick on an old 98 machine and move it back to the XP machine. You can use analog on an XP machine, you just can't program it there.
There's a thread at CH hangar on using the boot disks to boot into DOS on your XP and programming there, but I can't get it to work right. So I use an old 98 machine when I reprogram my stuff.
If you're using USB stuff, disregard my post.

Control manager is excelllent. I have combined my devices into one for AH and programmed it within AH ,except I have "enter" programmed to one of the buttons for the radio bar, as there isn't a stick mapping for it. Also have button three for shift. Its as well to keep it simple to start and gradually change it as you learn. That way you are up flying as soon as pos!
The problem with these complex controllers is you spend as much time fiddling with the programmes as flying lol:rolleyes:
Great kit though.

Can wait tell I try mine out in ah2. I love that you can make scripts for Ch products.

HI Mates
Can any of you tell me specifically how you programmed the Pedals, Pro Throttle and the axis in CM? Pedals and Throttle are not working at all. I have them on CM but don't know the keys?? to put in for throttle or pedals (what letters, or whatever).
Sorry to be so dumb on this, just not PC literate. Just give me a real airplane.
Many thanks

Majors I suggest you to go to CH-HANGER (http://www.Ch-hanger.com) read up you will learn alot. Or post your question and they will answer it fast.

I set my CH HOTAS up directly in AH. Took a few minutes, but it seemed less complicated than the CH software. I'm also running a pretty old machine and didn't want an interface between AHII and my controls.

Same to me. I set up CH HOTAS directly in AH.

Major,
In order to get the throttle and joysticks to work in AHII, you have to tell AHII what CH Control manager device works what controls.
* Go to AHII offline
* click on "Setup"
* Click on "Controls"
* Click on "Joystick"
* Click on "Select Joystick"
from this menu you tell AHII which control manager device you want to work which controls. Your rudder pedals may be device 2 or device 3, depending on how things loaded. On rudder pedals, left and right = z axis, left brake = x axis, right brake = y axis. FIrst, you highlight "rudder" on the far left. Next, you highlight one of the devices from the center column, and then you highlight "Z axis" from the right column. Now move the rudder pedals and see if the Z axis values change. If not, select a different device from the center column and try again. When you get it right, set input and then click on apply. Your rudder pedals will then work in AHII. Be sure to set up the brake pedals, you paid for them. Also, I believe that the Throttle on your pro throttle is the Z axis as well.

Gents!
For 2 last days I'm pissed of by one weird situation while flying with CH stuff. Newer have this prob during 1 month of using CH.
Time to time my aircraft go to dive with right roll approximately 10 degree. All efforts to put it to straight fly cause only system message "don't move your controls so rapidly". It happens 2 times during dive bombing, 2 times during dogfight. As you understand this situation leads to crash into ground.
I fund one "cure" - pressing Alt X. But it can't be applied in dive - I will eat ground faster, then press buttons and line in compressed aircraft.
I have default sliders settings for all 3 axes in joy config. I did not change or update drivers for CH.
Any advises????

Try calibrating your Joysticks in the AH2 setup interface.

May or may not be the solution but,
I occasionally had a similar problem with the plane rolling. I found out the rollers beside the stick had been accidently moved (CH Fighter Stick). It seems that on my set up the rollers were mapped to trim. I simply moved them back to center and life is good until the shooting starts.
Center is where they were when you calibrated. The rollers have a spot where you can feel them click. If by chance they were not centered when you calibrated, re-calibrate.

I keep the trim wheels covered with a piece of tape...helps prevent accidentally moving them in-game.

THX 2 CptA and seabat.
I'll check them today.

THX again!!!!!!!
Just an addition... If your trimmer wheels screwed the thing 10 degrees, recalibrate first in windblows and then in AH.
All the Best...

Thanks, I'll try to calibrate in Windows.

I found using AH instead of control manager to be the best for me.
I had to add each button in and assign a function to it but it was actually easier for me then figureing out the ch control panel stuff.
I just wish IL2 was as powerful as AH in this regard. I still dont have a great set up for IL2.
