Don't know if this is a bug....know it's been there since AH1...but is there anything that can be fixed to the rubber-band #1 wire on the CVs??
Ya know...you make an approach, land on the deck, then instantaneous slingshot off the aft-end of the CV when you have caught the one wire???
Just asking if it is being looked at...thanks!

This has been around for a while. The issue is, when you hit the wire and your engine is not at idle it means your wheel brakes are not on and it slingshots you off the deck. If you chop your throttle to zero the second you hit (or just before), you won't get the dreaded slingshot effect.
Also, be careful if you taxi with your tailhook down, same effect and equally as frustrating.

Yeah I know its been around awhile...just hoping it might be getting looked into. Also, last night when it happened to me, I had already cut the engine, so I definitely was at idle :)

Why are you using throttle when you hit the deck for?
In real flight, and in AH2, your landing as such should be at idle anyway, you need to maybe practice your landings so you flare at the right time. That way, you can apply brakes when you hit the deck. Stall warning should be sounding as you flare onto the deck / runway, otherwise you are too "hot over the fence".
Use your flaps as brakes (it is why they are there), use sink rate, not attitude as your landing approach. Balance your sink rate with throttle only, this is how it should happen. That way, you can never be caught doing this or any other landing problems.
CV aircraft are designed specifically for slower landings, use this to your advantage.
Always use the hook, why not?

I was watching a show the other day where it showed the signal officer calling for the throttle cutoff during landings. I'll have to take a look at my War in the Pacific DVD. I'm sure it'll show it there somewhere.

Historically the LSO would ideally hold a roger, pass signal till the plane was over the deck then issue the "cut" order the pilot would chop his throttle and essentially stall the plane and drop it onto the deck.
I think the slingshot bug may go a little deeper than merely having to have your throttle idle when you hit the wires any variance in engine manifold or RPM's may do it.... a month or so back I can in landed on the cv, not sure which wire I caught but it wasn't the first wire, it was somewhere in the middle.... anyway I was in the cockpit watching a squaddie come in when suddenly I got really paranoid about bumping the throttle or somthing and getting shot off the back of the cv (had a lot of kills and I was eagerly anticipating that little ego boost of a system message) so I turned off my engine, and was nearly instantly catipulted rearward. I then treated my poor, poor, squaddies to a torrent of profanity and logged for a little while to cool off. :)

dont sit on the deck with a p 38 , eng off either ... when the cv turns you get to go for a swim.
