This will be the first time in a long time I have had a top of the line system.
My last top of the line was back in like 92, a p90 with 16 megs of ram!
My new one will be:
CPU: An AMD 64 FX 53
MB: An ASUS SK8V K8T800
Ram: 1 gig of Corsair registered DDR
Video: Asus X800 pro 256 meg
HD Maxstore SATA 300 gig drive.
Sony DVD_/+RW
I ordered a new Case as well.

Hopefully it will run Aces high pretty good!
:D
I hope to have all the parts by the end of the week.
Newegg.com rocks.

yeah have used newegg for the last few years, it rocks.
Looks like you are throwing together a pretty kick bellybutton system there, and the case is very bling bling ;)
-
Yeah I am going to throw a NOS stick and a wing on the case!
lol.
It should be sweet. I screwed up and ordered the wrong ram at first, but getting a return RMA for newegg is easy.

wow, bad bellybutton rig :)

If that FX-53 is a 939 socket job, you don't need registered RAM. However, you would do for 940 socket.
Nice machine. I'm building a similar rig in a couple of months, but I'm going for low sonic levels. Silenced 6800 GT/Ultra, Sonata case, Zalman quiet copper cooler and sound proofing. My current machine is far too noisy!

Runnin an FX53 w/6800gt here as well. I had a lot of problems initially, which after 2 weeks of screwing with everything but, turned out to be a bunk power supply which was causing the system to throttle back under load when 3d apps were running.
Goes like stink now!

Dowd,
It is a socket 940.
Thanks for the tips though!
Ijust checked again, the mobo and proc are both 940.... I am paraniod I messed something else up on the order.
I considered going with a cheaper case and watercooling, but decided to keep it somewhat simple for now.

I've got the FX53 in 939 in my rig, had it for almost two weeks. Was gonna splurge on a vid card but held back. The proc is so dang fast who needs a top-end video card. AH2 is pegged at 85FPS in 1280X1024X32 with all sliders on full quality, and that is with the measly 9800-pro-128.
I've had zero issues with the hardware, everything is great with XP-Pro, but driver support for XP64 is not what you'd want it to be :(
