I grabbed the app here (http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/). It's rather vague.

You mean how do you get started?  Try going to suprnova.org or mobilefrenzy.org (might be .com, can't remember), and search through their site for links.  Click a link and bittorrent should download it.  It's more of a file transfer app than a typical napster/kazaa filesharing program.
