Ive started working on a converter from 3d canvas. Looks like it will work for making terrain shapes.
Steps that will happen to make a shape for AH.
1. Build A shape in 3d canvas, We Will support LOD's by naming convention. I.E. LOD5000 would come into view at 5000 yards.
2. Export the shape to an ascii format, htc will provide a script for 3d canvas.
3. Load and convert the ascii file in the new AH Object Editor.
4. Assign face attributes, this lets you make faces collidable or night like the difference between gress and trees runways & rearm pads. Also lets you change some texture attribes.
5. It can now be used to make new tiles or as a complete tile it selft.

This is fantastic news (lots of that lately :) )
Hitech, will these objects be static only, or is it possible that they can be animatable somehow? I'm thinking in terms of non-playable target-type objects for events... like shipping targets, or destroyable dams, etc.
Even if they are static only, this gives us a zillion options... thanks!

Great news HT, thanks! :)
Here's the website: http://3dcanvas.thegamecreators.com/
The free trial is unlimited but only supports saving in the 3D canvas format.
2. Export the shape to an ascii format, htc will provide a script for 3d canvas.
I assume HTC will make a converter from the 3D Canvas format, so that people can use the free trial software?

It would be great if the objects could be animated based on a simple text file that the CM would upload to the server. Similar to the clouds-file that the hosts can use...
This would allow unique AI units in events, for example. I guess HTC has already planned something like this for AH2: TOD?

My guess is static only, haven't thought of a way to do the setup for the moving stuff.
You will need x file export to be able to do the conversion.

Roger that... still great news. Can't wait to test it out. If I get the program and make a couple of things for you to convert, would it help out with your testing?

Yes Dux, The free version should do fine, Make a building or 2.
Btw use 256 color bmp's for any textureing, keep them fairly small also.

HiTech
Can we use any 3D modeling software as long as it can export an .x file?

It exports .x files so I would imagine the answer is yes. :)
