... for two to six weeks, that is. I'm having a bone-spur removed and some rotator-cuff repair on my stick shoulder, too, so I'll be offline for a bit. I do plan to be back though -- we don't want your scores getting too low, now do we!
Cya back up there eventually ...

..man... that would really suck. To have a little rnr (rest and recouperation) but not be able to play AH. Life just isn't fair sometimes.
Hope that things go well. RC injuries are no laughing matter.

See ya back here soon!

Recover soon bud.
Surgery really hurts your game. I found that out 1 year ago when I had a hietal [sp?] hernia repaired. The grapefruit-sized sack really screwed up my gunnery when trying to operate the 'ol foot pedals. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Good luck buhdman.
I had the same thing done about 18 months ago.I flew a few sorties the next night. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/cool.gif)
Your arm will probably be strapped across your stomach.Lay a board or tray on a pillow and put it in your lap.You can grab the stick with a minimum shoulder/arm movement, and rest your arm on the board.A little fine tuning and you can get quite comfortable.Provided you have enough pain pills. Hey! Sounds familiar!~ Had the same type of surgery back in 95' after many hours of using a CAD/CAM tablet and digitizer, and playing Warbirds.
Good luck, Bud, and FYI, it will never be the same as it was before your pain, but it will be better than it currently is.
If you excercise or lift weights, wait until you have 100% flexibility in the shoulder, or you could end up with nerve ending anomolies like I did.. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

YikeS! I'll be cringing for you Buhdman. Be good and best wishes for a speedy but relaxing recovery.

Thanks for the encouraging words! The surgery went OK, they strained my diaphram muscles when they were poking around looking for the right nerve bundle to block. My wife said I looked like a beached whale in death throes the way I was floundering around on the bed. I was "conscious", but I don't remember a thing!
They blocked my entire right side and arm. Carried a dead weight around for 16 hours or so. I was actually GLAD when the block wore off and I could move my fingers on their own! Of course when the block went away there was the PAIN. Thank god for big white pills. I'm at the point now after a week where I can sleep most of the way through the night. Thank god fo those big white pills!
They fixed the bone spur for now and repaired a nasty tear in my rotator cuff muscle. I'm not sure when I'll be able to control my right arm enough to wrastle with this lonely joystick, but when I'm able to do that again, I'll be back!!
Later!

Buhd, as stupid as this may sound (and maybe I am telling you something that you indeed already know), dont rely so much on those white pills to ease the pain. I know its a toejam that I say this, but some analgesic pills can cause addiction if taken in excess, and believe me, you dont want to go thru the proccess of leaving the hook of being addicted to the pain-easing medication.
I know of a couple of cases of this happening. Maybe your pills dont' cause addiction (AFAIK not many do), but if they do, please take them with care.
other than that, Glad to hear that ur better (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Hope to see you back in AH's skies soon!

P.S.: I found that shooting a 16oz. Bud tallboy with them really helps a lot! (JK)

RAM,
Thanks for the advice, it is well taken. I have finally weaned myself off of those blessed little pills and actually slept most of the night last night without them (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I've been back on line lately, usually to ride with someone or fly a goon somewhere it's needed. I tried a Typhoon last night, but found the strain just a wee bit too much for now. I want this thing to heal completely before I go screwing it up again.
I will be back, though!
