<S> To All
First things First…
We are practicing every night in the TA at 9 pm Eastern. Anyone is welcome to join our practices.
To all those squadrons who wish to do a fly by. Please respond in this thread and post the type of aircraft you will fly. The only restrictions I ask are these:
Fly By Teams are limited to 4 Planes Exactly.
For those squads (or individuals) that have less than 4 flyers, please join the pilot parade formation that will line up along side the runway. You do this by spawning on the runway facing South and then hitting enter 3 times. This will put you in your chute on the runway and then you can walk to the West Side of the runway and form up. Please wait in the tower for the command to execute this. The Musketeer Squad will Taxi into position before anyone else is allowed to go onto the field. This is very important and your help is greatly appreciated.
The same applies to those squadrons who will have more than 4 pilots online. I request that the extra squad members join the pilot parade formation mentioned above.
The Musketeers will be the only squad that will execute the missing man during their fly-by. I request that all other Fly-By teams simply do a 4 man formation fly over.
Now for the Order of Events for the Tribute.
Place: Special Events Arena
Time: Saturday Feb 17th. 2 pm Eastern Time (Sharp).
Country: Bishop
Field: A49
Text Radio Channel for Fly-By Teams: 140
Upon entering the Arena, go to the tower at A49 and wait for instructions and refrain from using the text buffer.
This event is being filmed and will presented to Sniper’s Family as a tribute (his Father might actually be in attendance). We want to keep the text buffer clean. Thank you.
I plan on starting this event precisely at 2 pm Eastern. Please allow yourself enough time to get to the arena. Please try to be in the arena no later than 1:50 pm Eastern.
At 2 pm Eastern:
The Musketeers will spawn in the fighter hangar. They will taxi out of the hangar and down the runway to the far North end. They will taxi around the refueling shack and line up at a 90-degree angle to the runway on the East Side of the runway. They will park in a tight wingtip to wingtip formation. Upon parking they will shutdown their engines.
At the same time, Ripsnort’s Tank Honor Guard will spawn from the vehicle hangar and move just North of the bomber hangar and wait for all of the Musketeers to taxi and park in position. Once the Musketeers have done this, then Rip’s Honor Guard will roll into a position next to the southern must Musketeer’s plane. Rip’s Tank Honor Guard will be the only vehicles allowed on the Field and their number will be limited to 7 tanks.
Once the Tanks have parked in position, I will announce for the Pilot Honor Guard Formation to take to the runway and bail into your chutes as described earlier in the post. Please treat this with respect and line up on the West Side of the runway opposite the Musketeer’s planes as quickly as possible. Please do not use this as an oppurtunity to run around the base! We are all on our honor during this!
Once everyone is in place the Musketeers Flying Formation will roll down the runway heading north and take off. As we are climbing out north I will ask the other Squads’ Flying Teams to roll from A51. I will ask them to fly along the 13-grid line until given clearance to proceed south to A49.
The Musketeer formation will fly to 9.12.9 and execute a 180-degree turn back towards the field. The Musketeer Formation will descend to 300 ft. and approach A49 from the North. Once we are within visual of the field, I will give clearance to the other Squads’ Flying Teams to space out and begin to fly toward A49 for their Fly-By’s I recommend a 300 foot altitude for the fly-by. The only cautionary note is to watch the little rise at the South end of the field. You will have to climb a little to clear.
As the Missing Man Formation approaches the Base, I will announce “Base Attention”, and then “Base, Present Arms” This is when I ask everyone to type <S> in the text buffer.
Just after the Musketeer Formation executes the Missing Man maneuver over the field, Rip’s Tank Honor Guard will give the 21 gun Salute.
The Musketeer formation will proceed out of sight from the field and land at A48.
As the other Squadron’s fly-by Formations pass over the field I would also ask that they proceed to A48 to land. Or if they wish they can bail, but do so ONLY after you are out of sight from the base.
You may then go to A49, but please stay in the tower. Do NOT go onto the field.
The ceremony will end with the Musketeers and Rip’s Honor Guard Taxiing back to the hangars!
I will then ask for a Final <S> from everyone in the text buffer.
That will then conclude our tribute to our Fallen Squadmate.
I will speak for all of the Musketeers, when I say thank you to all who will be there in both presence and spirit. Words cannot describe how we all feel regarding the reaction of this community to Sniper’s passing.

you better have a CM on hand to kick newbies who will shoot us all down lol.

I will try to be there. Didn't know Sn1p3r personally but I want to honor him too.

Wegaman,
I know that I'm running this risk by holding this in the TA. But I want folks to be able to have the F3 view available to them during the event if they wish.
Let's hope that everyone will be respectful on Saturday.

Cobra - this sounds nice. <S> to you guys for the thought you've obviously put into this. I'm not a person of faith, per say, but I hope Sniper will be there to see it with us.

Note: Ripsnorts tanks may be positioned more to the North based on how many Musketeers are lined up on the North East side.

Cobra, I keep thinking of one fight I had with you and Sniper. You and Sniper were in 109's as I remember and I was attacking a VB. We had a great fight and I think I shot him down. He wasn't happy, then he came back and got me. After that day I gained a lot of respect for Sniper. Whenever I saw 2 109's in the air I ran like a dog. <S> To Sniper and you. Nothing will keep me from the tribute on Saturday, even if I am the only one there. (I know I will have to elbow my way to the Runway) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

yes, I strongly urge you have a CM on hand to control flight ops around the field [read: shut them down once ceremony is in progress]. With that many people in the TA, you will get uninformed persons looking for a fight.

I didn't know where to post this, or who to send it to. Toad posted a slightly different version of Fiddlers' Green in another thread. I combined it and a pic I've had for quite some time. If possible show this to his family; I may not have known him but I feel this is the least I can do.

Cobra I dinnae think it would be to hard to set the SEA to have F3 available. I dinnae think we CMs have any power in the TA, but I know we can control the SEA.
Anyway, it's an option
-
er...the Training arena may have some newbies online who may be using #1 freely, AND may be at A49 to get some furball (who knows)
I think that the SEA is much better place, frankly.
Just a thought. I will be in either of both arenas.
-
One more note, TA has 90 person limit.
-
I agree that the SEA might be a better location for this.

Cobra, The assassins plan to be there, probably in 109's...
