how do u make a skin, or better yet what program do you use to edit the plane models.:aok
-
I use Paintshop Pro - not the best tool but gets the job done after a lot of practice. Adobe Illustrator has some real great tutorials that use "burn" and "dodge," and really important "layers" to give realistic quality to line drawings.
I just recommend to play around with whatever editor that you currently own and pay attention to the image information: # of pixels and colors. Of course, you also need to save them in the same file format *.bmp
I hope this was helpful and maybe will make up for me calling you a cheat the other night (was a baaaaaad night) - I had the worst case of rubba bullitz.

ok well im obviously doing this wrong paint wont let me open it.. might be tryin to open wrong file from the wrong folder. could someone tell me where to open the file from or plane models from?:aok

First you have to save the skin. Open AHII, go into offline or an arena. Go to the hanger and right click on the plane you want to skin. Click Save Skin and exit AHII.
Open Windows explorer and click, C:/Program Files/HTC/Aces High II/skins/yourplanename/whatever.bmp
I usually skin spitfires, so mine would be C:/Program Files/HTC/Aces High II/skins/spit5/spit5sd.bmp/spit5wng.bmp
Then, you should be able to edit the skin.

I use serif photoplus 5.5 to do most of the work on my skins, but when you save something as 8bmp it gets messed up. So I use PaintShop Pro 7 to change it to an 8bmp file.
If you are using MS Paint... Good luck with that
