Title: Fresh Water Turtle Festival
Post by: midnight Target on September 17, 2004, 11:38:55 AM
The Daily Show did a story on this the other day, and I about died laughing.

A fresh water turtle in the south is known as a Cooter.

Hell I was born and raised in the South and I've heard that name/term "cooter" all my life and I never associated it with....that other thing. Why, some good ol' boys are even nicknamed Cooter, and wear it with pride.:aok

Come to think of it though, I wonder how they got that nickname:lol

Cooter?  As in Cooter and Flash from the Dukes of Hazzard?... Bet that's the kind of Southerner slimm50 is talking about!
