Ok so I have a TM cougar, and I noticed in AH starting a few months back, the throttle would back off a bit. At first I thought it was cause I mapped the prop pitch to the big thumb dail but it is not that. (started right after.)
I would recalibrate and it would go away. Now no amount of recalibration helps, it goes from 100% down to 90 and keeps creeping down in game. I have to keep bumping the throttle to get full power.
I removed the detents, and now, I see the problem, but have no idea about the cause.
If in windows I push it to full throttle, it hits full throttle with about a qaurter inch of travel to go, if I push it past the point it shows full, it will stay at full foreward for a few seconds, then slowly creep down, ended up about 75% throttle. If I tap it it jumps back up and starts over.
Is the pot bad? Anyone seen this? What can I do about it?
I am starting to think I shouldhave spent my 300 bucks on CH lol.
This is the model as sold when it came out, no firmware updates.

It sounds like a bad throttle pot. You could try to reflash first, sometimes it will correct strange problems. Make sure you update to the latest firmware. It is well worth it.
When you flash, I suggest you unplug the throttle first before you flash. You can find all the latest updates here:

If it is a throttle pot, you can go to the TM web page and request a new one. They sent me one at no cost.

Thanks Gunner
Do I have to worry about hurting anything if I get the latest firmware? The disconecting the throttle is to keep it from dying?
-
Yes GtoRA2 unplug the throttle ,a friend of mine fried his throttle when flashing ...
I still don't understand how a electronic design can have a "feature" like that

The cause is most likely what was already mentoned. I lost my throttle pot due to the firmware flash issue last year. With the newest firmware it actually asked me if I wanted to continue with the throttle plugged in. I had to reflash it twice since the first time it didn't take due to the throttle not being attached. The second time the firmware worked fine after I plugged in the throttle and reflashed the newest firmware.
I will really be glad when I get my new Hall Sensor kit from Cubby to go with the Evenstrain Lites I am ordering for christmas.

I lost a throttle pot, so I have been unplugging it when I flash. They think the problem is solved, but just to make sure, it is recomended.
The latest firmare has no problems I know of. It has fixed some quirks like manual calibration.

Is Cubby still doing upgrades ?
I ordered the throttle mod many, many months ago and apart from the original confirm of email receipt, have heard nothing since.
-
Yes, I think Cubby is still taking orders. He had been providing hall sensors for the Uber and Everstrain mods. I have been waiting a year and a half for a HS kit. I just sent him a message, he said I am still on the list. He has been slowly sending out kits.

Cubby is still taking orders but he's on hold waiting for Greg to get back to production on the Lites.
