Sort of curious about what kind of sights you chaps are using. I use a minimalistic one offset high, with a marker for eggs at 45 degree dive angle.

So, post um (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Nice funked, you allied sissy farmer boy opportunist.
And you forgot a dress last time you were my submissive. It's stained, but you can wash it.

normal star sight, modifieed so that u raise my head a bit to align the stream of bullets witht the dot, helps with high deflection shots.

Santa, you know of any gunsight with dive bombing thingy's like yours for the P-38? I cant hit crap unless im dropping from straight above. Quite painful when acks up.
-
Tac, talk to Kirin - he's 9./JG 54's armorer and designs these cool sights (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

Tac, the gun aiming point works fine if the dive parameters are right.
I find 70-90 degree dives work best, starting from @ 10k. No rudder, and keep the P-38 at 1G. Try to drop and pull out before 6k, and if possible bomb objects closest to the edge of the bases to be in the ack vectors for the shortest amount of time. This works with any plane capable of dive bombing, and also works for rockets.

I use a sight that looks alot like this:
.

I didn't realize that many people were gaming the vertical viewpoint movement.
-
I either don't use the sight at all, or simply have this.

If I could figure out how to do it without getting those ugly, lopsided eye-sore sights I would.
But I'd rather have something graphically pleasing then a few more degrees for a deflection shot.
I have about 15 sights that I interchange depending on mood.

Oh btw the reason there are so many are that half are nekkid women with big racks, using the cleveage as a gun sight.

Just remover the inscriptions and you guys have the way I see you (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) It's a mod spit gunsight, I like them light, the center dot is very small so I can see the plane good when coming from dead 6. No other aids, that's probably why I suck at gunning.

I don't see it as a gaming thing, there are some drawbacks. Seems your aim goes a little off when you do this, especially at over convergence ranges. With normal sights I can hit out to d600, with the modified one I can hit out to 350-400. I sacrifice a bit of range for about 1 cm of extra vision.
Your mileage may vary however. unfortunately, I haven't found an A8 sight I've found to be good, other than Kirin's.

I use whatever site is historically correct and available for the plane.

Modified ReVi sight - first marker for rockets, second for bombs...
Funked, I wonder how many people game the adjustable perfect 6 view game (e.g. in Hogs) or how many allied pilots game the digital ammo counter game... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)
The sight system we have in AH isn't realistic anyway - in RL you could move the seat up and down while still having a perfect view through the sight - in AH we have to manually correct the sight to still hit at convergence...
Hey, we taller people just have the edge over the dwarfier ones... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Tac, practise dive bombing on the threshold of the runway to get an idea where to aim - modify gunsight and do it again and again and again... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) somewhen you get the perfect mark for your bombing style...

I pretty much use the deathdot. I think it pays to check it in each plane you fly though. (I have been experimenting with a bomb dot as well...but no working on it too hard.)
For example, my P-51 dot is perfect at 300 plus or minus 50 yards or so. I used the same one in the zeke and couldn't hit doodah at 300.
So, I checked the dot at 300 on the offline drones for each plane I'm likely to fly. (Maybe 5-6 planes). I found I had to do a little tweaking on height for each one to be a truly happy camper.
YMMV.

I have played with two different sights..
and another is a dot..
In this computer pixel mess I choose to have simpliest gunsights to avoid all unnecessary trash in my sight when I want to see the target and tracers too..
Who needs sights for deflection shots when planes usually are out of sight anyway and seeing tracers/target becomes more useful.
I have also dive bomb sight...
-
Kirin, where can I find that sight?
[This message has been edited by NATEDOG (edited 02-19-2001).]

Kirin, I would like to try that sight also.
