i figure this would be the best forum to post this in so....... i have created my own gunsight in the standard 128 X 128 format, with an alpha channel. in the alpha the white area should be solid, grays should be translucent and black should be clear. when i load it up in game however it is a mess! the white area of the alpha displays as clear, gray areas display as solid, and black areas have parts of clear and solid showing. i have both files saved as index color BMPs. Anyone know what might be causing this? do the BMPs that photoshop exports and the BMPs that AH uses differ in some way? i can upload the images to display on the BBS when i get home from work, if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.

my guess is the "alpha" is not right.
possibly in the conversion some "black" pilexs are not "black"
IIRC also the alpha channel bmp's are not supposed to be indexed 256 color, but are supposed to be 256 grayscale.

JB73 remembers correctly... save the Alpha as a greyscale BMP.
