Hello,
Have been looking at getting the services on my system reduced to improve performance...I ended up finding this site:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/customREG.htm
The link page shows a list of all of the possible std services for XP and XP Pro. It states which ones can be turned off, disabled etc. Very handy bit of information.
No word of lie, I obtained about 5-10 FPS from doing this clean up on my windows system. I couldn't believe the amount of services running on my system before disabling. My system still runs perfectly well; I have played one session of AH2 and have found it far better - especially near water or CVs for some reason.
Thanks to people like Black Viper, we can get some control back in our Windows operating systems.
Enjoy.

Anyone that is new to this, be very careful. You can render your computer unbootable very easily.
