Ive got a question on the blood splating, ohhh so freekin annoying neck shots.
In planes that have glas all around the cockpit like Yak or P51, is one more exposed to neck shots?

How do you know its a neckshot?
Could be shoulder, arm,or a nonleathal headshot

Because I hear a crunching sound in my neck each time the blod splats.

lolol
i would say that not many planes provide any more cover than the next.
the hurricane 2c has armour plating to protect the pilot, as does the later model spits, but only from attacks via the rear and bottom.
A corsair has a nice headrest that might help.
from an elevated firing point 190s are extremely vulnerable, as are p51, typh, spit, 110, LA7, Nik and any other bubble canopy or extensively glazed plane.
Bombers afford no protection for pilots it would seem in AH, the easiest way to kill one is to hit it just behind the cockpit from above. *BOOM*
so far i have never seen a GV driver wound, although it is a feature.
good thread although my answers are just made up on the spot from AH experience.

PS: why, oh why would you think they were 'neck shots'? :)
you could be right, dont get me wrong, but it seems a little sadistic. I would bail out instantly if i was shot through the neck.

You are aware that the canopy provides just as much protection as the fuselage, none. Only actual armor stands a chance of protecting the pilot and the armor plates are largely similar in nearly all fighters. Don't get mislead by the clear stuff vs the opaque stuff.

of cousre i realise this Karnak, although from a slight angle, which a shot from the 6oclk would be, there would be a very limited, but still real protection provided to the pilot by the canopy structure. certainly with smaller ballistics.
a few later war planes had armour to protect pilots and mechanisms. obviously i am not expecting you dont already know this :)
strangely enough, the most likely time for me to get pilot wound, is when strafing pnsrs.

I've got photos of a P-40 from the No.3 Squadron, RAAF that took bullets to the the canopy. Atleast 4 hits within the forwar left wind screen glass with absolutely no penetration into the cockpit. All hits were in a circle about the size of a full grown mans head.

ITS NOT THE NECK SHOTS YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT.. ITS THE KNACKERS SHOTS!
