"Due to the devastation of hurricane Ivan in Pensacola, Florida the Blue Angels have been forced to cancel several of their appearances, including the 2004 Oceana Air Show. "
The rest of the show will go on as planned.

I helped work security at the Niagra Falls Airforce base for the Blue Angels. They were there Friday thru Sunday. Friday was a military personel show only. Angels flew very cool. Both Sat. And Sun. shows were cancelled well into the afternoon. The public was quite displeased.

The home base of the Blues and much of the surrounding area was hit hard by Ivan. Last official report I saw was eye opening - something like 90% of the buildings on base were damaged. Over at Whiting Field, *every* hanger lost its roof. According to this same report, every one of the Blues were reporting damage to their homes.
For "the public" to be upset under those circumstances is pretty pathetic.

I can uderstand some dissappointment. I live about 2 miles from OCEANA NAS. The airshow is a real big deal. But I am not upset. I can understand as should the public that these guys need to take care of thier homes first before some stupid airshow. I was gonna go but without the "Blues" it's just a lotta traffic and a bunch of different prop planes doing the same tricks over and over and over and over.

Around 150,000 people showed up on both days. I was sorta peeved that these people show up for a "FREE" airshow. Then leave angry and complaning to any military personel. They didnt realize all the extra hours put in buy the military to putting the show together. Then it rains and the Blue Angels dont feel like putting the public in danger cancel it.
